I played a little today with my camera. My mom came over and was giving me a hard time about my décor. She said our chickens we had when I was growing up were mistreated she guessed....

Our coop never had such fancy décor......LOL let a lone a name she said.
It makes me happy!!
I LOVE IT! I especially love the 'Wicked chicken' sign. How are you feeling today?

Thank you!! I'm feeling about the same. Still having the same issues, stiffness if I am still for very long then the stiffness is always there, tingling and numbness and hurting joints. This evening my hands and feet, like itch. They have been doing that for over 6 months now. Just from time to time they itch so bad. I don't know if that is part of this or not but it sure gets on my nerves. Other than that, I am good! LOL
I love the sign and the chandelier!
I think you should put up a Disco Ball!!!

Hey now there is an idea. That puts an image in my head... dancing disco chicks!! Grease Lighting.....

Well, I hope everyone had a great day. Looks like we will be getting some bad weather tomorrow. Hope it's not damaging for anyone .... just rain.

I keep hearing about bad weather but last I saw for us we has a 30% chance of rain. I need to check the forecast before bed. I don't want my car hailed on.

I have the best neighbours! Their son got married last night and they had a family reunion BBQ all day today. They asked me to come 3 times over the past few weeks. I went over there later this afternoon and had supper and played games and hung out with them and their huge family. It was so fun! They all welcomed and were so nice. At one point their son welcomed me to the family.

Rain, I really need rain here. I looked out the window yesterday around noon and I could see the rain coming toward us. It was pouring......it stopped at the highway. I think we got 5 drops.

Wow, that is great about your neighbors. I am glad you went and had a good time!

Lisa :)

Well my friends dropped off their 3 production reds Friday and so far, after a little rocky start, everyone seems to be settling down. He brought over his coop and mine have been most interested in what it is. They go in and come out. They go in and come out. They go in and, well you get the picture. It's like a new toy!!

Does anyone have suggestions on growing fodder in TX heat? I don't really have room in my house and everything I'm researching says 65-75 degrees. If anyone sprouts for their chickens through Texas summers, I would live to hear how you do it!!

I just started sprouting. I'm doing it in the house right now using 9x13 disposable cake pans that I put holes in. I'm not sure about the heat. Will see what I can find out.

Sorry, I don't have any experience in growing fodder. As hot and humid it is here in Texas, I doubt you will be able to sprout it outside. Seems like it would sour? I used to have to soak alfalfa cubes for my senior horse. He didn't have many teeth. Soaking them in a bucket of water outside was find during the winter, but come spring/summer, I had to soak them inside or they would sour something awful.

@A1momof3 ~ How are you doing this weekend? Has the Mobic helped any with the stiffness or pain?

@TexasLisa ~ We never got any rain yesterday or today. It's all developing above or below us. We need some rain, just not the bad stuff.

@Ms Jellybean ~ Sounds like you have some great neighbors! Always nice to have friendly people living next door. We don't really have any "close" neighbors, except my son, and he's an a-s-s.

We've had a busy weekend. I went to the farmers market yesterday, got some really nice herb plants at a great price. I plan on making herb container gardens with them for Mother's day to give to my Mom and Mother-in-law. I'll post pics once they are finished to show ya'll.

Today, DH and I went to Lowes (seems like we go there an awful lot here lately) and got some wood to make my granddaughter a sand box. We were going to get 12', then decided to get 10'. We put a couple on the trolley, and decided that was too big, lol. We ended up getting 2"x12"x8' boards. We got some sand hauled in and got it finished today. She just loves it!

I planted some mosquito plants (citronella geraniums) and peppermint around the outside of the sandbox to help with mosquitoes and ants. I'm going to have to go back and get more mint. I want to plant some around the AC units to help keep the ants away.

I only planted 6 geraniums and 3 mint, and it liked to kill me. Of course, this was after building the box and leveling all the sand, but still!

The seeds I ordered the other day came in Saturday. Of course, I didn't get them until a little while ago, since I never checked my mailbox yesterday! LOLOL

This is what I have on my front porch. They build a nest here every year, and usually raise 2 sets of babies every year. I wouldn't mind, but the nest is on top of my porch light, and they get mud/poop all over the walls and floor at my front door. *sigh* I have to take the power washer to it. I was going to hang a rubber snake or plastic owl up this year, but they nested before I got around to putting one up. I think there is 4 babies in there.

I have fire ants living in my pot with mint in it. I think it is peppermint, but could be spearmint. I have both kinds. I won't treat the mound since I use the mint. I'm trying to encourage them to move on by flooding the pot frequently. I think it might be working. :)

My sister has barn swallows (mud martins) that nest under her deck and above her patio just outside the back door. They have had as many as 5 babies in the tiny nest. She tries to keep them away but hasn't had any luck. She decided to put some wood up so the ledge they nest on will be a slope. I'm sure they will figure out a way to nest nearby.

We had a big thunder storm this morning. My windows were rattling from it. All that noise and 0.1" of rain. It was a nice warm and humid day today. At least there was a good breeze. :)
