I LOVE his name...Cluck Norris..LOL!
I had one of those crates! I sold it before the girls came along...kicked myself later!
They're so used to roaming now..I'd feel bad keeping her in a cage for 3 weeks :/

Mine have slowed down on laying a bit, I think because of the heat. When do they go through juvenile molt?
I'd also like to know where my piece of cheesecake is!

I woke up to come clucking that seemed awfully close....
SOMEHOW.....My EEs, Pearl and Little Hawk, had made their way through the mudroom, into the kitchen, then into my bedroom...and onto the bed...
I'm thinking the door didn't get closed all the way last night...

Cute little alarm clocks though...lol

Okay..... nothing like having 2 pair of little eyes staring at you when you wake up.

Here on the left is my green egg I got from Rosey yesterday. It is her biggest yet! She has laid about 4 or 5 eggs so far. The green egg on the right is one of her previous eggs.

I am not sure if you plan to hatch the eggs or just eat them. However, the big long one could be double yolk. I had a hen that always laid 1-2 double yolk before so this looks familiar. So if you eat, count the yolk(s) and let us know. If you hatch, and should the egg actually hatch... then don't be surprise of the number of chicks... and like Mr. Al Gore said " this country demanded a Re-count"

Good Morning my friends. Sorry it's been a few day since I was able to get on for any period of time. We have been deep in wedding planning. It's not until next May but I am finding that if you don't important things now then you are out of luck. So I have the venue booked, and I am working on caterer and pictures. Then Friday we are going on our first trip looking at wedding dresses. Just trying to see what she likes.
On top of this I have had my granddaughter a lot, most of the weekend and then again yesterday. My daughter is having some issues and really needs to get them under control but I am hurting bad. My shoulders and elbow are killing me. I really got to figure out what is up with this arthritis and what I can take when it get to hurting me this bad. My Mobic and Salvia is working for the normal everyday stuff. But when I do something it hurts beyond the meds. ANY WAY..... enough of that...LOL

My silkie Cluck Norris is crowing!!!! I hear a good solid little crow this morning and it was him!!
I tried to get it on video but as soon as he saw me he started doing his dance he does when I bring out treats so that was it for the crowing.

@Brookshire11
I have one of those exlarge dog crates that I use for isolation. You can use that and some kind of temporary cage as a pen. Just an idea.

I haven't used the ACV yet but I guess I might start. I use the garlic and have used it since they were babies.

I am getting about 3 eggs a day right now. Each day it seems to be a different 3, well every other day it seems to be different eggs. My BCM are only laying like every 3 days I think. Good news is I haven't had any miss fires lately and they all seem to be laying in the nests now.

@jellybean I made a Peanut butter chocolate cheesecake the other day and it was a BIG hit. I love the website name, The girl that ate everything.... that is so me these days!! LOL

@hungnguyen Your son is so cute! I know you will be so happy when your family is here with you. Thanks for the ACV article that was really good.

Ok so today I have got to get this house clean and laundry done. It is hard to get things done when you are limited by your shoulders. LOL But here we go.....
Have you looked into acupuncture? My mom has spinal stenosis and that is the only thing that really puts a sent in her pain.

It would freak me out to wake up to a chicken clucking in my ear.

I got my first "rubber" egg this morning. It was waiting for me on the poop board. It was a perfect little egg, yolk and all, but had a very thin shell.

@TexasLisa ~ I never got back on to post those pics. Here they are.

Here is my first EE egg, green one. It was bigger than my smallest new eggs, but not as large as the ceramic egg you get to put in your nests.

Here are the eggs I got yesterday. The first egg I got from my EE Arnet. It is a creamy, pink colored egg. This is her second egg and the first one was just as big. The second is the big green egg from Rosey. The color doesn't show up good, but its the same one as the pic above. The other two are from a BR and Aussie.

Such pretty eggs! I got 18 eggs from my friend that has chickens last night. All pretty colors. Love it! She came over and picked a bunch of pears and brought me the eggs. :)

I read that sometimes a double yolk egg can hatch out twin chicks. I think it's pretty rare though. It would be so cool to have happen.

I'm off to the dentist now.

I watched a thread that had a double yolk duck egg hatch into twin ducks successfully!! It was so neat!

I sorry I forgot to txt you back about the pears!

We took matters into our own hands with the plumbing..had to dig up the side of the house...not fun,

But it's fixed!

My hen that laid double yolk eggs... hatched more babies than the number of eggs all the time. The very first batch out of this hen was 11 out of 10. This was when I noticed her special ability and started keep an eye of the shape of her eggs every time she laid. Currently she is the only one in the yard with this characteristic. I gave her to a friend in Laredo for continue breeding for me. I guess, due to bird like her, they say "Don't count the chicken till they hatch"

Yeah! Was it a bad clog or tree roots?

Can you just here them talking at your feet? "I'm not going to wake her, you wake her". Or maybe it was more like in Finding Nemo..."I'm not gonna touch the butt, you touch the butt".

I still have pears. The ones on the tree are harder to reach, but I can share what I have on the table. It's way more than I can eat. I need a trained monkey to pick my pears. I wonder if I can convince the city that it is a necessary 'pet' to have. I don't think they are something you can keep here.....

I just found an amazing recipe to try. I can use my pears in it. I like that you can change it up with any fruit.

This was posted on FB. It is soooo funny!

No cavities! :)

That is amazing! I never thought about chickens having twins!

It was both!!! Pretty sure Kiera managed to flush an entire roll of paper towels. AND there were roots. We found a large one going under the house, don't know what it goes too....maybe the neighbors large tree in front? We have a Brrd pear in the back..but I didn't think it'd be THAT far reaching. Maybe I underestimate trees..

I would not be surprised if that's what they were thinking!

Guess they didn't want to wait for breakfast!

I love galettes! My sister in law and I made a savory one for brunch awhile back. Goat cheese and tomatoes..mmm

Ooooo, maybe I will do a tomato one for supper. I have some tomatoes I need to use up. How did she season it? I could do fresh basil, some other herbs and bacon.....

I'm liking the sound of this. :)

Oh, I found out that what my neighbor thought was a falcon (someone told him that) is a Mississippi Kite. I got a decent photo of it the other night so I could see it better.

Ohh! Bacon is a good idea!
We did salt, pepper, basil, and garlic :)
I use a lot of garlic...lol
plus the goat cheese was herbed.
Oh! I don't know if you can have it (or if you like it), but the goat cheese at the farmer's market on Saturdays is AWESOME.
My favorite is the honey apricot, but he has savory flavors too.
I like to make a rosemary goat cheese mac n cheese with chicken...mm...I haven't made that in awhile..since we moved up here actually...

Friday is my first milk pickup!
Paid today, SO excited!!
I figure, worst case scenario, if I don't like the taste, it will make great cheese, butter, and ice cream! lol
But I don't see that being an issue.
