i knew i shoulda went with the kindle instead of the nook! lol!
You can get them on your Nook as well, as long as they have been "Internet archived". Google does a lot of archiving, as well as some college libraries. Just do a search for the subject matter and you should be able to find some. I download a lot of old recipe books on my Nook from the 1890's - 1910.

it depends on the breed (and the bloodlines) The past few years I have had hatchery cochins and silkies.. "known for broodiness" mine have gone broody exactly 0 times (hatchery blood for ya..

) but about 5 years ago I had some that were broody more often than not (heritage cochins) some birds CAN be bribed into setting a nest if you leave dummy eggs for them.. others like my current bunch are pretty much useless no matter what you do! good luck on getting your girls in the mood to set for ya!

I think all of the birds I have are right at a year old. Most of them are hatchery, but a few are not. The two that went broody and hatched out chicks this year were a BCM (non hatchery) and a dark brahma (hatchery). The BCM has already started laying again. I guess I don't have anything to lose by trying. If I'm successful, the worst that'll happen is that I'll have to get more eggs from someone.

was puffing up in the wind this evening,

the two EE's, Cloey and Zoey

Mama-Red (Tuyet) and a guinea in the corner if you can see

Should I let my chicks completely feather out before staying outside?

Depends on the weather

, if it is getting close to freezing at night, then yes, but if you are just talking about taking them out during the day, nope, you can do that from day one. Sorry not sure what is going on in Odessa!

Okay so today is my Birthday. Was kind of depressed did not want to do anything, but my DS had a baseball game, did not want to go at ALL, wanted to stay home. I have to say now I am SOOOOOO happy it was today. It pulled me out of my funk and made me realize as much as I hate getting older, I LOVE watching my kids grow.

For some reason my "decade" birthdays don't bother me, it is the ones that end in 5, they REALLY get me down!!!!

Also, today I ordered 10 new chicks from McMurry, hopped on another order from a girl at work to help with cost. SUPER excited, they get here May 6ish. Can't wait!!!!!! Nice Bday present to myself
