nah.. not snippy

But when it was posted before I think I'm the only one who replied.. so I assumed everyone else had missed it since this thread can move pretty fast at times

They make it sound as if it's a done deal (I think so people won't protest it).. but if you click on the links that bnjrob posted .. then click on "bill stages" it shows where it hasn't passed here yet..
I know last time it was a federal thing too.. but when the states refused it.. it got shelved until now

Well 1116 now! No way can I read it all, hehe. Looking forward to joining the convo from here on out!

Thanks! I don't know what I have! They were sold as "mixed pullets." My friend that raises chicks is taking a guess at either red or golden sex links...whatever that means :) Here is a pic, go ahead and join the guessing pool!

They look a lot like the three I got my nephew (well, they do still live here with me) Here are some pics of them

These are all Marcel, you can see how she has changed as she has grown up a little more. They all started off blond with the little red racing stripes, their wingtips turned white and for the most part all of them have white on them somewhere.

Are there any other instructions on a dry hatch that DON'T require monitoring air cells? I've explained before that that won't work for me. I just would like to know how to run the incubator correctly.
weight.

I actually have gotten to where I prefer to weigh...I'm finding that my aircells are HARD to see in some of these darker eggs. Weight loss, however, is easy to track:

as you can see....I was losing weight way too fast. I had to bump my humidity a bit in the last stages. For me, it works so much better than trying to correlate where my aircell should be vs where it is - especially when I can't see the aircell.

Do you know what kind that is? It does look kind of similar to these, although some have more red and some are more light yellow, but as far as I can tell all of their wing feathers are coming in really light yellow/white.

yup.. weigh the eggs before setting..

so you'll need a good gram scale

then % of weight that needs to be lost depends on species of bird (most run in the neighborhood of 12% give or take a bit)

OR you can do what a lot of us do and just go dry for a test hatch and see how the chicks do... (no monitoring.. just use some "cheapie"eggs.. mutts work well)
dry through incubation.. then add water to saturate (sponges or whatever your bator is using) at hatch

if you have any losses.. sticky chicks and so on.. let us know and we can troubleshoot it from there

I'll take you up on that ;-) Expect to be getting bugged often by me about them, if you do, though. I am not going to want to ruin the line after you put such hard work into it.

BTW....you want to see a bird that is absolutely NOT a silver laced but absolutely gorgeous? If I could figure out how to replicate the mess they tossed together at the hatchery, I would so work on this:

I can never get her to pose for me with her chest facing the camera. I wish I could. Her chest is solid white. The hackles are beautiful. The rest of her is black spangled white. She's truly growing out to be the prettiest of our birds.....and, she's a complete and total mutt.
I'll have some wyandotte mutts hatching soon :) I don't mind mutts tho. Mine will be blue wyandotte roo over black wyandotte hen.

I knew it had been posted before, I just thought that it hadn't been passed yet. I told my rep not to vote for it but I guess it doesn't really matter if it is a federal thing. This article reads as if it has already been passed.

ETA Just reread what I typed and it sounds kind of snippy. Sorry guys, it wasn't meant to be.
No it isn't just a federal thing - that one hasn't gone through yet.

Some TX wingnuts just filed bills again on this subject and it is making its way through both the TX house and TX senate. It hasn't been passed yet so telling your rep to vote against it is a good thing!

Not to mention, just because something actually gets passed doesn't mean it can't get repealed if enough people throw a hissy fit.
