ran out of fence posts

ran out of fence...

taking a break

Sounds like a crazy busy day.

Last night i put my little chickadee in the brooder while i was doing other stuff. One of the little slw chicks attacked her. Grabbed on to her comb and held on like a little badger. Chickadee flipped her head around trying to toss the chick and it took her s while to shake it. She pecked that little fuzz two times and it left her done but i sure wish i had the camera for that attack. Funniest thing i have seen in a while.

:yuckyuck

Just goes to show how far removed from our food that we have become.  So many people don't even stop to think that their food doesn't just magically appear at the grocery store.

My co-worker didnt know the diff between a roo and a hen. Just thought chicken was chicken. True story

*raises hand* I have a question! I have a 22 week old Amercauna, very pretty and super friendly girl. The last few days when I go into their run, an move to quickly/stand up over her , she hits the deck. Goes into a squat position. Very similar to the squat they go into when a rooster mounts them. I don't have a rooster. Why is she doing this??

She is being submissive.

I have a question for you. Can a broody hen raised turkey poults? One of my hens has decided to sit on one of the duck nests, but I was thinking maybe I can let her sit there until the eggs I have in the incubator hatch and then switch them at dark. And put the duck eggs in the bator and let her raise the turkeys....
