Texas

Howdy from Dayton, Txeas. I'm so glad to have found BYC and to be here with fellow Texans.
Just to brag... I've got the most beautimus golden roo ever! or so my GGD tells me! lol
I'm restarting my chicken adventure with Ameraucana, Marans, Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, and more. I proudly confess with a wink and a nod that I am a hatch-a-holic and a confirmed chicken crazed chick that is looking for a new breed to raise and a heritage bred to help return to former glory .

Ya'll have fun now, ya hear?

Mike posted a video - the run isn't completed, yet...still have the secondary wire to put up on the fencing, etc....He built the ramp, today - the video was taken, yesterday. But, it's coming along and is far enough along that they can be out in it with supervision. Rod Stewart (my buff coloured Polish) was the first one out the door.

This is the image that earned my Polish his name:

The other one's name (my black one) is Don King...

are those the polish that you picked up outta pitty, the three? or was that yinepu? i think they were about the same age as my polish, should be lookin pretty sweet by now! mine turned into 1 roo (red) and 1 SL pullet, and she is beautiful!

Yeah - it was three. Sadly, one died. Looks like it got its head dunked in the water by one of the other birds walking on it. Irony is, it happened the day we had scheduled to hang the waterer instead of letting it sit on the ground **sighs** So, I'm down to two. The white/buff one in the video and Don King (the black one). Don is in the "sick room" right now because somehow the side of his nose got damaged. I'm keeping him away from the others until I see improvement. He's been very docile about the whole thing. I don't know that either of these two will ever classify as "beautiful"; but, they sure are characters. Rod Stewart earned his name not only because he's blonde; but, he's always gotten up in the windows of the hotel and "performed". He likes to show off and get attention.

That was a great video! I got a good look at Rod Stewart, but didn't see Don King. Where's his picture!

I read this thread all the time despite the fact that it's 99% of the time about chickens and I don't have a single one. Just ducks and geese. But, y'all are so much fun to read!

Thanks for the kind words on the video. It was a momentous occasion.

I'll try to get a photo of Don King, today. He's in the sick ward, right now.

I am working on muscovy, pheasants and coral blue guineas in the incubator. So far, the guineas aren't looking too hot (only had 4 eggs, and only 1 is looking like it's developing). The pheasants are doing awesome and the muscovy aren't looking too bad themselves. I know nothing about muscovy, so I'm leaning heavily on Yinepu to answer questions; and, reading heavily. I'd love to hear about your duck, duck, goose adventures.....sorry, I had to. The compulsion was too strong to resist.

i started with 3 as well, and one died during that nasty cold snap we got! but that one was also growing slower than the others in the brooder as well so thre coulda been more at play. Mine are gonna get let loose this weekend with the main flock. they will have been penned up inside the coup for what will be 2 weeks at that point. time to see how things go!

Good luck, Dood!

Oh, and here's a picture of Don King. I took him in with the other two because his beak was all messed up. It's gotten better; but, it's prone to damage. Particularly around the nostrils. I'm treating him, now, because he managed to damage it and get a small infection. Once it's cleared up, he'll go back with The Menagerie. He's such a sweetie.

and you were leary of the guys in the beginning!! i wish i could get some tolbunts or some crele polish eggs eventually! i think those just want to be named ziggy and other haitian names!

Why can't you get them? I've seen some great prices on Tolbunts...haven't seen any crele's listed, though.

Speaking of Creles....my ____ incubator better get here PDQ. My second set of crele eggs is due to arrive any day
