Yeah - it was three.  Sadly, one died.  Looks like it got its head dunked in the water by one of the other birds walking on it.  Irony is, it happened the day we had scheduled to hang the waterer instead of letting it sit on the ground **sighs**  So, I'm down to two.  The white/buff one in the video and Don King (the black one).  Don is in the "sick room" right now because somehow the side of his nose got damaged.  I'm keeping him away from the others until I see improvement.  He's been very docile about the whole thing.  I don't know that either of these two will ever classify as "beautiful"; but, they sure are characters.  Rod Stewart earned his name not only because he's blonde; but, he's always gotten up in the windows of the hotel and "performed".  He likes to show off and get attention.

Sorry about one dying :( I had a bad week
Live & learn I had 3 out of 4 eggs hatch last Thursday- 2 WR/W crosses & one BLRW.....one of the WR's was weak in it's left leg, the pullet was setting on the eggs in the main coop (with a big run)with 2 W roo's, a GL pullet,Orp pullet, Welsummer pullet, SS pullet & 3 big ol WR hens. I fixed a crate next to her nest (which was on the floor) that only the chicks could get in to eat & drink......well next day I came out & the WR chick with the bad leg was in the middle of the coop with that leg pecked almost off I put her & the chicks in a separate little pen but I don't think the chick will make it with only 1 leg.( DH put it down the next day) She's OK now To make things worse we have an owl that keeps knocking 1 of our AG hens out of the trees at night, I hear the commotion & go out & get her off the ground & put her in a coop (she's blonde colored & must show up better then some of the others), this has happened 4 times in the last 2 weeks.....well that night I heard a chicken screaming & my husband ran out with the 2 dogs, they took off towards the back of the yard, before we were going back in 1 of the dogs was trying to get in this shipping crate sitting in the yard so we went over & there was my hen with feathers everywhere. She seemed OK in the dark, I put her in the coop, the next morning she did have a wound on her leg & her wing on the other side hanging a little. Oh I forgot 2 nights before that something got 2 of my 4 6 week old chicks out of the pen they were in through the fence ( was the only side that I didnt' have hardware cloth on) I thought they were staying in the little house I had for them inside on the protected side of the pen. :smack We put a live trap next to the chick pen & it was sprung the next morning but nothing in it & the food was gone. Hopefully things will go smoother this week :(

Hey y'all!  Brand new chicken lady here!  I am in Weatherford Tx, west of Fort Worth.  I have no clue what kind of chickens I have cause they were free from my daughters class but I have 8 of them!  I guess time will tell!  I also ordered 11 chicks from mypetchicken, they should be here in a few hours!  So 19 chicks, 1 catahoula leopard dog, 1 mix breed we have no clue what she is, 4 kids and 1 supportive hubby!  I am so glad I found this site!  So much advice and friendly folks!  I hope to get to know y'all better!

Greeneggchick15, I'm over west of you in Abilene. I have had several classes get hatching eggs from me. It is so great for the kids to see what an egg Really is. I had a local school get 10 doz hatching eggs 8). and a teacher from Plano picked up a couple doz for her Pre-school class while she was visiting her family here.
(My DH sat and watched eggs hatch for Hours at a time, he took time lapsed pics of chicks from first pip, thru zip, to fluffy dry. He is really a Chicken Nerd!!)
