Love the coup! My adults still sleep all over the place! Sometimes i see them on the roosts, i see nestle spots in thier shavings, and they sometimes sleep on the dresser nests i have in there...but eggs are always in the right place so i figure why not?
That's good to know! I was just wondering if my girls were weird because they weren't roosting like most birds. I also noticed they slept over by the food and water....almost like they were guarding it. lol.

Also, when is the right time to put the "fake" eggs in the nesting boxes? I mean they're only 4/5ish weeks so it will be a while beforet hey start laying.

I'll probably have extra of the dorkings.. euskal oiloas.. silkies.. ancona ducks.. not sure what else yet.. i had 10 EOs hatch last night.. still a bunch more pipped .. not counting the next batch of eggs plus the older chicks I had hatch out a few weeks ago.. so I'm looking at about 40 of those guys!

the dorkings will probably be silver greys since I have a bunch of them that have hatched plus a nice batch of eggs inbound... unless you don't mind a few of the odd colored ones from the crele project.. they have 5 toes but aren't the expected colors yet.. ( lol.. I do have a few that look to be almost crele colored in the latest batch..)

just lemme know when...so many neat breeds...will just have to see what ends up in the box

So do you have pictures of your place showing all your beauties off?

nah.. I need to take some one of these days..

people normally want to see the emus.. so that's what I've taken pics of (though I do need to take a pic of micro duck and post it.. )
Yes, I want to see! I looked at all your emu pics. And saw your turkey hatchlings. Very cute! Do you live on a big farm? I keep telling my husband that now that we have chickens and our own garden...I want a farm. We just moved into the house we have now so he isn't too happy about me saying that!!!

I lost my first chicken to a raccoon last night. Mo, my barred rock, found feathers every where and her laying half eaten in the middle of their run.

Still not super sure on how the coon got into their coop, going to have to go investigate more when the rain lets up again.

I'm concerned for my other girls, Mo was top hen, and led the flock. Will they be ok? No one has ever bothered to challenge her, so who will take her place?

I'm devastated :(
