New chicky mom here in Fort Worth. Had 6 hatch on Saturday and waiting on some more in incubator.
2 polish, 1 frizzled barred rock, 1 silkie, 1 australorp, and 1 faverolle

Haha I have one doing this right now! All of my other birds except her roost. She tries to sleep outside or right at the door into the coop. Silly birds =)

My birds took a while to take to their roosts also. Started them on a 6" roost as chicks. When they began to get big enough for the higher roost the went to a 1/2' wide board that i had for blocking stuff from falling out the door. It was four foot long and I had twelve birds packed on it, and they were getting too big for it, but still they refused the higher more roomie roosts. Finally, I removed the first two options from the coop and the second night I found them all up on the higher roosts. They can be such silly birds.

Muscovy are pretty much done hatching.. dorkings are finishing up too

next up are ancona ducks, mandarins .. geese.. then yokohamas

the silkie eggs arrived yesterday.. lots of assorted colors!

I hope everyone is having a nice day.. sorry I haven't been on much lately.. just been so darn busy with hatching.. brooders.. coops.. pens and tanks..

lol.. I am up to my eyeballs in chicks and ducklings!

Sounds like you have lots of work keeping you busy. I was wondering how is your husband doing? I hope that he is continuing to recover from his injuries. We civilians are blessed by people like himself who put themselves in danger to protect this country and its citizens. I am grateful for his contribution and pray he is doing better.

I picked up three new hens the other day. I was told they were ameraucana, but now that I have seen their eggs, I know it isn't the case. They are a pale green egg, but I do not mind. The other is a black copper maran. My rooster just fell in love with her.
One hen, she needs a name.

Hen number two, and she needs a name as well.

Fleur my faverolle hen.

Hen number three, I am thinking about naming her Maleficent.
