I think I'm finally starting to see how this chicken math works.I'll try to take some tomorrow.. gotta move chicks around in the brooders to make room for the latest hatches![]()
My birds took a while to take to their roosts also. Started them on a 6" roost as chicks. When they began to get big enough for the higher roost the went to a 1/2' wide board that i had for blocking stuff from falling out the door. It was four foot long and I had twelve birds packed on it, and they were getting too big for it, but still they refused the higher more roomie roosts. Finally, I removed the first two options from the coop and the second night I found them all up on the higher roosts. They can be such silly birds.Haha I have one doing this right now! All of my other birds except her roost. She tries to sleep outside or right at the door into the coop. Silly birds =)
Sounds like you have lots of work keeping you busy. I was wondering how is your husband doing? I hope that he is continuing to recover from his injuries. We civilians are blessed by people like himself who put themselves in danger to protect this country and its citizens. I am grateful for his contribution and pray he is doing better.Muscovy are pretty much done hatching.. dorkings are finishing up too
next up are ancona ducks, mandarins .. geese.. then yokohamas
the silkie eggs arrived yesterday.. lots of assorted colors!
