Ok my eggs have shipped USPS

. I'm scared because my postman is an idiot, he sometimes decides he just isn't going to deliver the mail and marks packages as delivered, and leaves them in his car and calls in sick for several days! Eeeek, if he does that this time I will be sooo mad! He did that with my daughters Easter Dress one year, I ordered her this fancy dress and it was supposed to arrive Friday before Easter Sunday, and he stuck all my mail and everyone else's on my street in his car, marked everything as delivered, and called in Saturday. I called the PO master on Monday to complain, and he said that the manis sick and there was no way to get a hold of him, and that someone must have stolen my package off my porch. Low and behold on Tuesday I ended up getting the dress plus the mail from Friday, Saturday, and Monday and Tuesday!
The advice given about calling is correct. Call ahead of time and ask the post office to have the carrier flag your delivery. Tell them you are expecting eggs and would like a call when they come in. They will more than likely be sent with delivery confirmation and you should get the number from the shipper when they are shipped and then go to USPS.Com and under track and confirm you will be able see the progress of the package. When you expect the package, call again and ask if they are in. They will probably not answer until time to open the window. It will be best if you go pick them up, especially if you get mail later in the day. They have cards that they can stick in your delivery spot to remind the carrier and especially if a substitute is on the route. A carrier can be terminated if they take mail or packages home. Supervisors are supposed to do spot checks and even check under the seat to help avoid this happening. When you have a complaint call 1-800-ASK-USPS. They will take the complaint, route it through customer service and it will show up on the office computer the next morning. They have to check every morning and they know in the district office if they did not log in. They will have to answer your complaint and close the ticket within 24 hour. Do not hesitate if you are not getting good service. The supervision has enough to do without having to see that a carrier is doing his job daily. They will stress that they do not want to have anymore to respond to. With delayed mail, you should ask for an explanation. It is difficult to supervise each and every employee while they are out of the office and if you do not get any feedback then you have to assume they are performing o.k. Many people are afraid that something will happen to their mail if they complain, do not worry. A paycheck is more important than termination for abuse of the mail. Most carriers will pay more attention to your mail after a complaint as they do not want to be confronted about constant problems by the supervisor. If you have constant problems, then you should contact the customer service in Coppell, I think you will still be under that. They are very good at calling the office and getting back with you for repetitive problems. I retired last year after 27 years with USPS. The last 23 as Postmaster. Remember that the squeaking wheel gets the grease.

Thanks 7acres, I was just disheartened last time when I called my local postmaster and he gave me all the excuses and then claimed someone stole my package. I actually called the 800 # as well, and ll they could tell me was the package showed processed and delivered, I ended up filing the loss on my credit card, and getting a refund. Then the dress came Tuesday after Easter and I had to call the dress company and tell them to rebill me, it was such a stinking mess! I'm going to call first thing in the morning and ask them to hold my package and I will go pick it up. I'm sure she has labeled it Fragile! ....... I hope!

Cockle-Dood, you mentioned a roo pen. I think out of 7 chicks, I have 4 roos. :( So counting the older girls, I will have 10 hens and 4 roos. I don't know anything about a separate pen for roos. What do I need to have? How far away from the girls do they need to be? Can 4 roos live peacefully together? Any other advice would be appreciated. I was really thinking I would either have to cull at least 2 or find homes for them.

Lisa :)

I am not 100% on all the details for one but i am going on the assumption that as long as they cant get to the girls they will be fine, as it is their desire to mate that causes fights. Of course there is always a bad egg, pun intended.

At first i am going to make it right next to my current pen and watch what happens. If i have issues there that will become a pen for something else and i will move further away.

As far as the set up goes i dont imagine a whole lot is necessary. I plan on providing A simple open air roosting shed, easy huh?

I know this was to cockle-dood but.... A pen for roosters is just basically a bachelor pad. You can build a separate pen far enough away from your "hen house" that they can't see each other. The males usually do fine together like this because they don't have any women to fight over.
