That's what I did but I guess they survived. She went limp and almost went under water. I will have to go to the store for the dawn, I will try it tomorrow morning.

Fire ants can survive for something like 6 days under water.. (yeah.. someone actually did a study on it)

I would go ahead and feed her if she's alert and wanting to eat.. a bird in shock won't eat
Heck.. even the one we had that had the wing tore off was up and eating by day two

I would avoid anything that is for "dogs only"..
aside from dogs the general rule is to treat any animal (other than birds, amphibians, reptiles, fish and insects) with cat products. Since birds are even more susceptible to chemicals than cats are i would be hesitant to use even cat products on them. which is why I suggested Dawn. . Normally cat products are formulated a bit differently than ones for dogs.. and shouldn't be taken up by the liver as easily (so are generally considered to be "safer" for most animals), which is why we used to use cat products on most wild critters that would come into rehab.
Wild birds were always handled with special care and the most "toxic" thing we would use on them was Dawn. Sure some dog products may be safe to use on a chicken.. but without knowing which ones are for sure I wouldn't risk it, especially on a wounded bird.

On our chickens we have used Sevin dust.. but the chickens were also not stressed and wounded... though I have used Sevin dust on a sick chicken (didn't have large open wounds) when I was handed one that was infested with lice.

Got the sav a chick.

We found these prints today.

I think those prints are too big for a coyote...that's a big dog!! oh boy it's bad enough when it's wild life but when it's a neighborhood dog!!! that really pisses me off...I lost a guinea to a dog in front of my granddaughter! people believe it's okay to let their animals run free in the country...it may be legal but it's not okay!! when they terrorize our lives!! I hope you can nail down the trouble maker!

I was thinking when I read about what you had found....coyotes focus on one easy prey and then carry it off to the pack....raccoons don't usually leave any evidence
