A couple of pictures of our coops, we leaned a sheet of plywood along one side later because it was too sunny in this heat part of the day. I have to find the picture of the other coop, it doesn't seem to be on here :(
So, really, your birds just have a roof and wire to keep out predators? What keeps the predators from digging in? Do they have trouble when you get rain with strong winds? Thanks.
All 3 of our coops are enclosed on three sides at one end, we have 2x8's against the bottom all the way around with concrete blocks & or bricks against the outside of the boards. Our plan is to bury a 6" sheet of tin all the way around eventually. Here's pictures of our other 2 coops. If their oriented the right direction sun & rain isn't a big problem. We put the enclosed end wrong on the coop in the last picture so I had to lean plywood sheets on the end & this side to keep the sun out. :( 2nd picture is our original coop

I love this last coop! Good air flow:) The first coop I built was an off the ground 4x7 coop. Has good windows on two sides. Not big enough for my girls though. I am now putting together a coop made of recycled pallets. I'm hoping to have to all put together by Thanksgiving. I'm collecting the pallets I'll need right now.

We have never lost any in these coops, the only ones we've lost were chicks in a smaller pen that didn't have hardware cloth. We soon wised up & everything that has chicks in it is enclosed in hardware cloth. We're building another coop right now that has hardware cloth. Every coop we built was with free scrap lumber, pallets, free tin, etc. the only thing we had to spend money on was screws, wire & staples :ya

It suddenly started storming here about 15 minutes ago, pouring rain :yesss: Almost forgot a bag of chicken feed in the back of my truck, my husband got soaked getting it inside. I had to resack it quick before it was ruined. :fl
