agree.. and same here! Between how they are treated and what goes in to them.. well.. let's just say after my mom passed of colon cancer we decided to go vegan until we can afford organic grass fed products from a small rancher! We never touched eggs until we moved here and started watching over a flock (that led to our now addiction.. lol) Most of our veggies we grow ourselves as well and buy local organic when we have to.
What is sad to me.. is I have seen way too many small farmers and ranchers who I have known all my life who could no longer stand the pressure and sold out to the big guys.. sigh..

This is sadly true.... It isn't that they want to or agree with it either... When they come to you to take away your lively hood, you have to change sometimes. NONE of them do it easily or with out a heavy heart. Judge not.... How many farmers have stood up for what is right just to have the big guns rule against them. We all need to remember that this world is FAR from what it used to be..... Stand for what is right and you stand to loose everything you have worked for. Why? Because someone who has more money and thinks they are right said so.....
So many have lost so much and made changes they didn't want to make because of rules and regulations. If you don't you are breaking the law.....

HaHa, all these people fussing about GMO grains, but these same people think it's ok to make, market, sell and consume artificial "Meat" ????
My grandfather had A Dairy herd when I was young, raised Hereford and Shorthorn beef cattle, Suffolk sheep and feeder pigs. He kept a radio on in the barns, clean water, good pasture and loafing sheds. They processed at the local locker and I can tell you the animals in our freezer had a few bad minutes in their entire lifetime.
Farmers and Ranchers treat their animals with respect as a rule. We all know that stressed animals dont gain weight, breed or reproduce efficiently. When the bottom line is your pocketbook you take care of your animals.

I was listening to NPR when they were discussing the laboratory meat and I think I skipped dinner that night! Way too Soylent Green.

Ok guys, I'm A little East of Dallas and I have Two Wheaten Ameracauna cockerels and an olive Egger Cockerel that is black Copper Marans and Ameraucana, but looks Black Copper Marans, he hatched from a large olive egg, and he is the biggest of all the chicks. Any or all of these little guys are FREE to a good home! These are not hatchery birds, they are out of a Breeder in Georgia! They are almost 4 weeks old.

Where are you located? I am in the wylie/Lavon area. I might be interested in one of your Roos.

On a side note, school starts for my two tomorrow. The stuff they expect you to buy is insane! I mean what child needs 96 pencils for 1 year of school and not just the cheap yellow ones, the Tancongra (sp?) which are $3 for 10, so $30 JUST on pencils????? I bought 40, I am sure he can make do!
