If anyone can ever breed a chicken or guinea who loves to eat these little fire ants they'll be a quick multi-millionair. I think such a development might bring a resurgence in chicken keeping! Everyone in my neighborhood would want some fire-ant-eating chickens.

My (expletive) mini Dachshunds got hold of some some of my bantams the other day.  The two I saved are pretty chewed up.  I've been terrified to put them out imagining those ants eating them alive, zeroing inon their wounds.

my dachshunds live up to their hound!! they eat chick babies
:hit

I went out to put my babies in their coop and found my only sex-link chick drown in the duck water!! my heart hurts

What age chick was it?

Hello everyone. I lost 23 chickens to a dog attack this past Saturday. It was horrible. My neighbor's dog got out of their yard, pushed my gate enough to get in and attacked my chickens. My bestfriend came home while the dog was attacking them. He killed 15 meat birds 3 bantam Cochin and 5 blue laced red wyandottes. He killed my two favorite foley blue laced red wyandottes. The police came and made a report and animal control came and took the dog. I was at work when it happened. I talked to the officer who was at my house and o course he told me to talk to my neighbor and work things out. I spoke with the owner and I was trying to tell her all I've lost. And she said she had some fines she had to pay because of her dog being taken to the pound.I was rrying to resolve the problem but she told me to talk to her husband but as far no one has made the attempt to contact me. One of my chickens was inthe alleyway when I got home and I saw them taking pictures. Ao I went to my backyard to call her. All I got from my neighbors was dirty looks. I don't want to take them to court, but what else can I do?

:hugs So sorry but unfortunately that what you'll probably have to do :(

Great post.

Why don't we believe that the man who voted for and promotes the killing of half born babies really cares about the massacre of children, whether in Syria or a local school?

Here is the article it came from.
Some of our readers may ask, isn't GreenMedInfo.com moving into the [forbidden] realm of politics by writing on these topics? Therein stands the illusion: that one can in fact be apolitical. When your country goes to war in your name, it is not possible to remain morally uninvolved, as silence and inaction is collusion.

Sadly the first bold part has proven to be untrue within this thread. I have talked to a couple people who no longer recommend this thread to newbies because of it.

:thumbsup
It's a shame that so many of the old regulars are avoiding this thread. I make sure my daughters are occupied doing other things when I read it because even my girls say the people here are "not very nice". When two little girls can spot the cattiness you know it's really bad!

I have to respond to this. Most people on this thread have been nothing but nice and are more than willing to help any time anyone asks a question.

I'm with ya, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. As far as I'm concerned this thread should be about anything & everything Texas people want to discuss, if you only want to talk chickens use a breed specific thread for chicken only discussions :)

Well, just to report after eating the tarantula yesterday all the ladies were fine. I do not like my chickens eating them because they are not any bother to us. It is a sign of good health in your land to see them. They can not be found on chemical laden lawns. So, to me when I see one it is like a good omen
