We must be kindred sisters!  I was worried about my teeth--I just had my braces off when I was hit.  As it was, I finished that game and played the next with a concussion.  So what position did you play?  I played first base and outfield (one of the few who could throw the  ball into the catcher and/or pitcher)

Yep there's something about having a ball hit your face that does it. Mine was a hard grounder and it bounced off my glove and right into my mouth. I played shortstop when that happened and right field after. Then my coach had the bright idea to make me catcher. When I blocked the plate from a hotshot sliding in and got sent rolling (but had the ball, by golly she was OUT!) and my coach chewed me out for it, I got ****** and quit playing.

RachaelS, I think I am going to change the name of the '4 Musketeers' to the '4 Hooligans'!! They must have raging hormones or something. They have jumped up on the big air conditioner to watch the fan go around and then they decided to jump the fence into my garden! They are getting into everything today! I don't think I had this much trouble with my two kids!

I was in the center outfield when I got hit. The batter hit a high fly ball that should have been caught by the girl on my left. She was just standing there, so I took off running for it. I had reached for the ball, when the field lights came on. The ball tipped my glove and got me instead. I was so mad at myself! At least I hit the winning run for that game!

It took me a while to get use to catching a high fly ball. I kept flinching. I can do it now.

Not vilifying, just a small correction, the post said they were praying, it did not say they were praying to Christ. Normally a prayer before a game is for God's guidance. Since, Jewish people believe in God and pray to him frequently I am betting the Jewish player was fine with it.

On a personal side, if I went into a community that was primarily Hindu, I would never expect them so back off on their chosen display of religious beliefs just because it made me fell like an outsider.

Nope one does not need to be a fervent fundamentalist Christian to have a place here. However, it would be nice for those that are and those that are not, to treat each other with compassion

You are correct, the writer didn't say they were praying to Christ, but that down on one knee pre-game Tim-Tebow pose is pretty closely identified with Christian faith. I think there was no doubt in anyone's mind which religion was being practiced.

I doubt you would be happy or comfortable if you went into a school populated by predominately Hindu-area students and found your Christian child being exposed to a pre-game prayer to 27 Hindu gods.

By the way, some of the happiest, most at peace people I have met are deeply religious in whatever faith they practice. Having lived in Saudi Arabia for 11 years where any religion other than Islam was illegal, I value the First Amendment. I'm not knocking religion, I just get very uncomfortable to have it forced on me.

I'm spending way too much time on this forum. I really need to stop procrastinating and just go clean my house!

LOL, I was just thinking the EXACT same thing!!!! Expect first on the list is cleaning kitty litter, not looking forward to that one, next is bathrooms, not sure which I am dreading the most!

I'm right there with you! Already sprayed cleaner in the shower so it can soak. But I'm sitting here staring at the kitty's "poopoo box" (as my kids call it), dreading it!

I'm not knocking religion, I just get very uncomfortable to have it forced on me.

As Texans we always value the differing of opinions. Of course, you know what they say about opinions....

You, having lived in so many exotic places know that what was described as a prayer at a football game, is not being "forced" to pray. It's optional. I would think that in some of the countries you lived in, there may be some sort of punishment for not praying in the correct way. Not true here.

I personally love to learn about all different religions. I was born and raised Baptist, married Methodist and have been to more Catholic services as an adult than anything else. They are all religions that believe that there was a Jesus Christ, that is true. When I go to a Catholic service, I do not kneel. It's my option.

I also believe that God is in all things...how do I know that God didn't create different religions so that people of different cultures could still relate to a belief that there is something greater than ourselves? It is interesting that there are similarities in the wide variety of religions across the world.

In my opinion (see first sentence above...) I would guess that when a bunch of kids and parents are praying for their safety in a religion that they all practice, that this is something that happens all over the world with many different religions.

....and I agree with you about something else...I have other things that need doing!!
