I've got 24 chickens right now.. mostly for pleasure/eggs.

6 BMF d'uccle (kinda a project)

1 Salmon Fav roo
3 EEs
3 partridge rocks
1 barred rock
1 RIR
1 buff orp
2 silkies

a pen of youngsters.

5 salmon fav x
1 salmon fav pullet

I'm in Montgomery .. about 80 miles north of Houston ..

We are in our new house on 5 acres of piney woods.. with lot's of predators ..

I only have 3 silkie chickens -- Snook is 6 months old, and Ashes and GaGaRoo are 5 months old.
They are pets, Snook laid an egg a few weeks ago so I know she is a girl -- however, she hasn't been bothered to lay another one ...
The other two are inseparatable and I am not sure if they are boys or girls.

I live in downtown San Antonio in an old historic neighborhood right down the street from the Alamo... I have a small backyard, which is the reason I only have 3 chickens. If anyone is ever being a tourist in San Antonio, you just have to come by and meet my babies!

I listen to the Chicken Whisperer radio Show every day at 11... I know nothing about chickens and am just trying to learn everything I can..

I have a bunch of chickens, RIR, SS, Turkens, Plymouth Rocks, Ameraucanas, Marans, Spitz, white, lav and buff Orps, Silkies, Black Jap to name a few
Midget white, Blue Slate and Royal Palm Turkeys, 4 kinds of geese, ducks, Bobwhites
I live in Alvarado in Johnson County
I love animals, I sell eggs to eat, hatch, sell poultry, ducks, goats ( I know that's not a chicken] but some of them are pets.
I take in allot of roos from people that cant keep them in the city.

Howdy All,

I live in Normangee, which is about halfway between Houston and Dallas. I actually live outside of Normangee, which has a population of around 700.
I have chickens for pets, and eggs. I have sold some chickens, and trying to realign myself( making excuses !) to get more chickens ( Chicken Math going on here!)
I currently have 18.
2 BA
3 BO
7 RIR
8 Dellys
1 GLW

The last 9 are only 8 1/2 weeks old. I ordered all pullets, but I'm getting a real strong hunch, I have a straight run

This spring, I am wanting to buy a couple of Cochin pullets, so we can start raising our own babies, and not depend on the mail. I thought about doing incubators, and still may, just for the opportunity to say I have done it, but ..... really hate to spend the $ on one if it's only for 1 time. Maybe I should ask around and see if someone would
allow me to borrow one...... we'll see!

I think I am going to try and drag my DH to the poultry show that is to be in College Station after the first of the year. Would love to meet some of you folks !

Good brrrrrr morning ..

I've got a broodie this morning ... she was on the nest most of the day .. did not go to roost last night.. and is still on the nest .. it's official..

Of course, she's a silkie .. sitting on Faverolles X eggs .. I guess I'll let her have the 6 she's sitting on .. lol .. should be interesting babies..

Morning, Texas! Glad to be back where I'm not freezing my rear off. Boy was it COLD up there in Shawnee, OK this weekend!
Totally worth it because I came home with 9 new Call Ducks and had an amazing time!

Just to catch up:
I live in Kountze(north of Beaumont)
Have 40 chickens and 23 Call Ducks
I raise my birds for pleasure/showing/eggs and because it's just so darn much fun!

gallo-a LF Black Sumarta won Reserve AOSB. Nice, large bird that had 4 spurs(nice, evenly lined up spurs). You'd have loved it!
