. Heidisgran has already seen this, but I thought I would share with the rest of Texas ;). Our first homemade coop :). Our first arrivals coming next weekend :).

Good evening, whoever is on! I was offline this weekend because I went to that wine-tasting, which really turned into Mom and I going around eating loads of cheese samples because she had a dry wine that burned on the way down. How do you get rid of the burn? Well, you eat all the cheese, obviously. Pepper jack was the best, hehe!

We had loads of fun, though, to be honest, it wasn't as interesting for us since we've been there about four times before. All the stores my family thought were brilliant were stores we'd seen and visited before. It was nice to spend 6 uninhibited hours with our relatives, though!

Coming home was great, though. I love spending time with my cousins and would have liked to stay longer, but seeing my babies was so nice. I held Cutie, my little mutt runt, and she fell asleep on my shoulder. Such a sweetie! You really appreciate what you have when you finally come home from these trips. :)

What large fowl white egg layers are good for Texas? I want to free range them. One of my Polish pullets gave me a few dozen eggs before stopping three weeks ago. One gave me maybe two and another might have given me one egg. The fourth Polish has yet to give me any eggs (all are 7.5 months old). I need some white in my egg basket.

I have two brown leghorn pullets who are not laying yet, but they should be good layers of white eggs. Leghorns are known to be flighty but these two Brown Leghorn's are very friendly and are ALWAYS the first to jump up on our laps, arms and shoulders waiting for their treats.

They are also pretty bird and look a lot like Welsummers.
