What color is this?
400

Calico, or it would be if it were a cat!

*sigh* won't let me quote again. She's a hatchery "americauna"

The colors are very vibrant and unusual. I love a bird with striking coloring!

My guess would be she's an EE'r. From what I read on the Americauna page they have to be specific colors and the Americauna people are pretty fussy. ;)

Is it a roo or a pullet? It is so hard to tell because of the lack of comb and wattles....I thought I saw the beginnings of saddle feathers at the base of the tail.

That is a rooster (based on the color and the saddle). In American game, they call this a Grey. In my language, we call this a Banana (the term is based on the color of the neck feather). This roo may have mixed with some American game, and he is not a true Grey but mixed with some light red color. Let us know when he crows, he will be a colorful chicken.

I just read the other day about the rust colored patches on the shoulders are a sign that the bird is male.

Good morning! It is still cold even though it is after 10am. :( At least the sun is out. :)

My carnitas were super yummy last night. My mom had never had them before. She's hooked on them now. :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am going to my sister's house (mom is staying with her). My oldest son will be in San Antonio with his dad's side of the family and my youngest will be who knows where. He doesn't want to hang out with his mom, aunt and grandma. Yes, I am upset with him.
