Yes Lisa dear. do you want me to feed the turkey and spray deodorant for your skunk too? when is your surgery?

BTW, after the last audit, I sleep so good recently... z.zz..zz.

As of right now, the skunk is gone so you don't have to worry about that.

How did the audit go?

Surgery is Thursday. I had a total wrist replacement done almost a year ago. The surgeon messed up big time. He didn't have my size appliance available and put in a large one. It has caused me all kinds of problems not to mention pain and not being able to use my hand. The new surgeon is going to go in and have a look-see. He will assess the damage and hopefully be able to put a smaller appliance in. If he can't, he will fuse my wrist.

Talking about changing shoes, I use work boots to walk around outdoors. My problem is training my DH to take his off when he comes in.

Lisa :)

Wow, i'm impressed. I did not know my sister Lisa is a "bionic woman". Well, this was the very first tv movie that I followed when I came to this country; along with that was "the six million dollar man". Now I know that once you have mechanical part implanted in you, you will become the six dollar man. Audit was a great success. Yesterday the boss emailed in to congratulate us. I can't wait to see my x-mas bonus .... probably direct diposit to the wedding fund. A tip about shoes in a chicken yard: I re-use lots of plastic HEB bags for this. I wrap them around my shoes and keep them up with a rubber band around my ankle. Now there is no need to change shoe and no need to worry about a muddy rainy yard. How's about that? Lisa, should I send you and DH some perfumes for x-mas ... we did smell some skunks in this forum.

You are a funny man!!!

I loved the Bionic Man and the Bionic Woman--my heroes!

Congrats on the audit.

Lisa :)

It is a beautiful day!
Chickens are loving this weather and sunshine.
I have one hen that lays eggs in the yard. She doesn't try to hide it. Just lays it right out in the open. Easy for me to see. Found one this morning. :)

Hey everybody! My sleep schedule is off again. I couldn't sleep last night, so I stayed awake watching a presentation on CSPAN. I ended up falling asleep after it was over, but I didn't wake up again until 4:30 PM. It was awful! I felt totally guilty!

However, watching CSPAN did educate me and I'm wondering if anyone can give me a little help with this.

So, in case no one knew, last year I had surgery to remove gallstones and my gallbladder because there was a rather large infection. Previous to the surgery, I'd gone two years with brief moments of severe stomach pain, normally alleviated by throwing up whatever caused the pain. My family just thought it was heartburn or acid reflux (which would make sense because it runs in my family), but I never felt the pain in my chest, only in my stomach.

Nowadays, I'm always cautious of what I eat. I get sick from eating a lot some foods I haven't tried since the surgery. I never know how my stomach will respond to new foods. It's why I get so nervous about eating out at restaurants I don't know. If that wasn't embarrassing enough, I also have to know where the bathroom is just in case my body doesn't accept the food. It's embarrassing, it is restricting, and I haven't felt comfortable going out with my friends for ages because I'm worried that eating will end with me feeling sick.

So, here's where I need help!

I'm going to go on a "cleanse". Watching that presentation by Dr. Robert Lustig really gave me some insight. I've decided to run an experiment on my body by not eating sugar (among other things) for three weeks. What I need help with is coming up with recipes within the foods I'm allowed to eat (and without the foods that are on the "AVOID" list). Here are the lists!

Good Foods:
Make as many of these organic as possible

All Herbs
All Vegetables, Except Potatoes
Avocado
Beans
Beets*
Brown Rice
Carrots*
Clearvite-SF
Coconut Oil
Corn*
Eggs
Fish
Ghee (Clarified Butter)
Goji Berries
Grape Seed Oil
Lemon and Lime
Lentils
Miracle Noodle Brand Pasta
Nuts
Olive Oil
Organic Free-Range Chicken
Organic Free-Range Turkey
Organic Grass-Fed Beef
Organic Grass-Fed Lamb
Quinoa
Sashimi
Seeds
Tomatoes
Unsweetened chocolate
Wild Caught Salmon
Yams*
*Limit to ½ cup per serving

Foods to Avoid:

Agave Nectar - Alcohol - All Fried Foods - All Fruit not on Good Foods list - All Grains not on Good Foods list - Artificial Sweeteners - Breads - Buckwheat - Candy - Cereal - Cheese - Cream Sauces - Dairy - Evaporated Cane Juice (sugar) - Exekiel Bread - Flour - Flour Tortillas - French Bread - Fructose - Fruit Juice - Fruits - High Fructose Corn Syrup - Honey - Hydrogenated Oils - Maple Syrup - Millet - MSG: Monosodium Glutinate - Oatmeal - Potatoes - Raw Cane Sugar - Seitan - Soy - Sucrose - Sugar - Tortillas - Trans Fats - Vinegar - Wheat Bread - Wheat Pasta - White Bread - White Flour - White Rice - Yogurt

This is a list of foods only during the 21 day cleanse. After the cleanse you can slowly add back fruits, whole grains and all natural sweeteners, such as agave nectar and stevia. However, processed sugars and processed grains should still be avoided.

If anyone can help me out here (or if you have any experience with this sort of "cleanse"), I would greatly appreciate it. I am really nervous and would love to say that I'm confident this will be easy, but I know it won't be. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go through withdrawals from all the things I'll be cutting out, but if I can improve my health, it is worth it. It will also help me find out what foods are not good for my sensitive stomach. I think gaining back my freedom is totally worth the work. :)
sounds like the detox that I did... not hard really.. do you have pinterest? Look up anti-candida recipes. If I can do it WHILE being vegan.. (I can not eat meat, it kills my stomach) you can do this ;-) Currently we are ovo-veggies... we are also sugar, soy, and gluten free. NO processed foods so also the long list of other crap that comes with S.A.D. free as well. Let me know if you need any help.

@Heidisgran, I had my gallbladder completely removed. They had hopes originally that only a portion of the gallbladder had an infection so they could remove it and leave the rest, but the infection was too great. It ran from the bottom of my gallbladder (my lower right side) to the upper portion if my sternum.

I have sensitivities to loads of processed foods. I can't eat canned chicken in water because it just destroys me. There are other foods that do this, especially canned items, but I don't always stop myself from eating things. You just get used to not feeling great. It's why I decided to do this detox.

The suckish part is that I won't be able to eat fruit. That is going to make it hard, but I can understand it. It is just so restricting. The "Good" list is only half recognizable. I just have to find a way to eat foods differently. It's gonna be hard, haha!

My mom had her gallbladder out a couple years ago. She eats foods just fine. Is that not the norm?

It took all day to get my doors installed yesterday and I painted the insides today. I"m still trying to figure out the exterior color.

Here they are. :) I just LOVE them!

Back door. Blinds are between the glass. It is still taped up here from painting.
Sasha can sit and look out the door at the back yard now.

Front door. I LOVE this door! I will be painting the trim white (hopefully soon).
I want a color that is bright and pops. I need to go get samples to try.... Orangish brick
makes it hard to choose a color.

Plenty of people have the surgery and go back to eating as they did before. I just happen to be one of the people who was not so lucky. I've always reacted differently and with more sensitivity to foods, so it makes sense that I had more issues after the surgery.

So in other words, it really just depends on the person. Hehe! :)

That is a large list of foods. You should have no trouble combining items for endless meals. Saute your protein in a small amount of coconut oil and put on top of a green salad with tomatoes. Add a few roasted walnuts for crunch. Make your black beans and rice with homemade chicken/veg stock, then combine them with some GF hamburger and wrap in a Romaine lettuce leaf for "taco's".

I know you can do it!
