Texas

I recommend to rotate the eggs 2-3 times per day.

Hope yours hatched. I had a hen setting on the eggs a week ago. At night I moved her nest into a barn .. then 2 nights later, coon got inside the barn, chased her out and cracked/ate all the eggs. Back to square one !

Final incubator pics! 36 eggs went in 2/5 around noon. Temp holding steady between 99 and 100. Little cooler in the "back" by about 1 degree, so I rotate position every 2-3 days. Humidity is a little harder to control...I can get it where I want it, but keeping it there at night is difficult. It all evaporates. I have a dish with a rag in it...I also added a gel bottle thing from my husbands humidor and that seems to help some...I think I'll switch out the rag to a sponge...but when I had the sponge in there the humidity ran pretty high...maybe just part of sponge? I also took out the air plugs after reading a suggestion on another post...I think that's helping...
Nice. You should rotate the eggs more often though. I think twice a day, but maybe three times like Hung mentioned below.

Nancy Solinger just shared this funny conversation. I can't THINK of any better type of chocolates for Valentine's Day (and kudos to hubby for not only remembering the breed but also her name AND where she came from:

Hubby: Is there anything special you want for Valentine's Day.
Me: Grin weellll ( a short pause)
Hubby: I know that smile. You want a Chocolate Orpington like FED has ummm I think you said Truffle was her name.
Me: YES!!!YES!!!!
Hubby: O.K. I'll order your chicken you want- Monday morning. You look up the Chicken Scratch Poultry number.

I really didn't think he heard me when I talked to him about her. He sort of would look at her pictures while watching tv. you posted of her. I am super excited! We will be adding 4 more new pullets to our 2 hens and Mr. Roo in time. Thank-you FED!

I also one end up on a 5-6" block that I move to the other end at 8am, 12pm, 4pm, and 8pm each day.

Do you think rotating the eggs so often will be too much handling? I think you are right though, it should be more often...Thanks!

Most still incubator instructs us to rotate 3 times/ day i.e every 8 hrs. Incubator with egg turners constantly rotate the eggs. I laid my eggs flat on the incubator floor. I marked an X on the side of the eggs. When rotate I just roll them to the other side each time.

This coon came in from a new route so he went from gate to barn. SInce yesterday incident, we put more chicken wire into the gate. He still out there watching us setting up trap

We have 3 fat coons that frequent our house...they haven't messed with our chickens, but I think we accidentally feed them so much cat food they don't bother! They have actually befriended my 20lb cat. I caught them hanging out in the garage together....

Hung I am so sorry to hear about the coon. I did NOT send the coon your way!

Bisenuff, nice set up! I hope your eggs hatch!

I am now battling a pack of dogs. UGH!! I have chased them away twice now.

Lisa :)

I still try to figure out who sent this batch of coons .. so I know which direction to set trap. We caught 2 last weeks and missed this one over the weekend. Look like a flock. I hope that you have a dog to guard your yard and keep other dogs from invading
