Texas

Hey ya'll! Just wanted to say that I have a nice, sweet, Black Orpington cockerel that I need to offer to someone. He's from HinkJC and is 9 weeks old. I bought hatching eggs from HinkJC farms this spring and I love all of these birds! All the cockerels are very friendly and cuddly! Thought I'd offer him to my Texas BYC'rs. (edited: decided not to list on Craislist). I'm in the Spring Branch area of Houston and won't ship.

I looked up the genetics and it seems if a black covers a buff, the offspring are all supposed to be black. I'm not sure about that but the other cockerel will be covering a few buffs so I'll find out eventually.

Welcome to all the new Texas BYCers. It always amazes me how many of us there are.

My co worker has offered me some angel trumphets and a Catalpa tree and I'm having trouble finding out whether or not the catalpa is poisonous to poultry.

Angel trumpets are definately poisonous. Chickens are good at avoiding things they know are poisonous, BUT if there is nothing else to eat in the run, they will start snacking on anything.

Here is a good resource for poisonous plants .

I have two things on my mind. First & most important request is Please bless the food that you receive & ask the good lord above for some rain for our great state. Also, I know this isn't as important as the above mentioned but her goes I live near Navasota & have 7 RIR cockerels that are around 3 months old that I'm trying to get rid of. Here's a picture of their dad. He's a very good roo & a great provider to his flock of 11 hens. I'm asking for five bucks a bird . That will help re-coop the feed cost thus far. If interested PM me. Thanks 7L

Hello fellow Texans!

I'm in the SE Panhandle, between Matador and Childress. I've owned chickens since I was around 6-8

Currently I sell Buff Orpington Hatching eggs, chicks, adults. I have around 80-90 chicks in the brooder...not counting my adult chickens! I have guineas and I have button quail but I'm trying to get out of them so most of them are for sell. Always have chickens and chicks for sell. I have a medium sized flock of mixed chickens, Standard and Bantam. I have Olive Eggers, LF Lavender and Black Ameraucanas ( True, not Easter Eggers ) Lavender, Black, Black Ameraucana Bantams, Buff Orpingtons, Mixed Chicks, Lavender Cochins, in the brooder. Plus around 70-80 eggs due to hatch Tuesday. I'm always open to egg/chicken swaps! Have a great day, and hope ya get some rain!
