Hey guys,

DH and I were gone all day today. We just got home about an hour ago to a massacre. As of right now out of 14 chickens, we have 2 left. We found 8 dead scattered throughout the property along with a dead rabbit (whole). 4 are missing. Hoping they will show up tomorrow. I am just sick about this.

OMGosh, that is so sad! I'm so very sorry. :( Praying your missing chickens will show up unharmed.

I am so sorry! Sounds like a dog attack. I know you are heartbroken.

Ok so here are some pics of my backyard and why I can't hand pic the weeds. Don't know if you can see but 3 of the 4 chickens are under the trampoline. One us in the coop taking care of business.

My yard is pretty big considering I'm in a neighborhood. It actually goes back 10 more feet into the bayou but there a pole so they put the fence in front of it. When I save my dimes for a new fence (it's kinda falling down) I'm going to have them put it at the edge of my property line. Then I can get more chickens.

:cdIf I didn't work I could totally do the hand picking weed thing.
i cant remember if you have a limit on your chicken #s but if not if you will get more chickens and as someone suggested mow often at least weekly you will elimate your weeds in 2 years or less. more chickens will fertilize your yard to help the grass grow faster and thicker. cant get too many chickens or you wont have any grass .. and if you mow more the weeds wont head out with seeds. looks like a nice yard though :) get out and grill some steaks and bake sweet potatoes and watch the chickens peck the ground.

Oh no (((hugs))) I hope they are just scattered and come home by tomorrow

We think it was the neighbor's dogs. He has 4 or 5 dogs which always run in a pack. They are always chasing the calves down in the neighboring pastures.

I wish there was a way to prove it, not that it would change anything. Saying a prayer that the missing 4 show up in the morning unharmed.

Lol we do that A LOT! No more chickens right now. I'm blessed that they all 4 get along famously and if I got more chickens I'd have to get another coop because they already almost sit on each other when they are all trying to lay an egg. It's like musical chairs in there. I will start this sat having the guys come every other week for a bit and then weekly. I hate paying them to mow and the leave with one bag of grass.

Lisa,
I am so sorry. I wish there was a way we could all help you. Try to rest tonight and I pray the four are okay and just hiding out until the coast is clear.
