Here is a pic of the coop I want. So simple

It would be okay if you don't have raccoons.

no predators. Not yet. I've only seen one possum I'm my 2 1/2 yrs in this house. My backyard is fenced by a 6 ft wood fence which I know wouldn't keep anything out if they really wanted in, but so far it's been really quiet in my backyard. The coop I have now is just like that but smaller and without the roost bar. The bottom is covered in wire and I leave the wire door open all the time. The girls put themselves to bed at night and go out in the morning when they want to. It's not 100% safe but nothing really is and they are so happy. I want another coop so I can get a few more chickens lol. I don't NEED another coop but you guys are just a bunch of enablers and very bad.

I am a very lazy chicken Momma. All this talk about feed. I buy what the farm store has. The chickens like the layer crumbles. I can't even remember the name on the bag. And I give them scratch grains. Mainly they freerange. They get treats in the way of peels and scraps. Sometimes mealworms. I use DE in their food on the 1st of the month as a worm preventative. Watched a video on it and it sounded like a smart idea. They take dust baths all over the yard in all sorts of medium. Seems they like the dirt best. My chicken tractor has a little tray under the roosting area. I began sprinkling sand in the tray to make clean up easier and noticed the little bugs all went away. I check my girls and have never seen any bugs on them. I did have on my reading glasses so I think I could see bugs if they were there.
Now I am going to go read my feed sack.

My husband built my second coop. It is funny that most of the chickens like to roost in the smaller coop/tractor. When I had 8 all but 3 would cram in there at night. Now I am down to 6 and still they prefer the little coop. One lone brown leghorn sleeps in the bigger one. It has 2 nesting boxes so they all lay in them. Go figure.

I posted on emergencies/disease but I thought y'all might be able to help.

We've had so much trouble with our last order of chicks its almost gotten to the point of ridiculous.

Our 1 week old Turken has something going on. Its always appeared 'round' to us, like a golf ball, something just didn't look right. We noticed today it appears round and swollen at the back end. The 'mass' feels exactly like a full crop. The chick is full of energy, running around like its healthy as can be. The vent IS NOT blocked, we watched it pass stool, a normal amount, normal consistency.

Any ideas?

Is it squishy?
I had an EE chick that had something like that in the same spot.

Not the best pic.
She didn't make it, but it was more of an air pocket.

I will be praying for Garret and his family.
Same!
