Hey Hens, since you're in Liberty Hill, will you let me know if you see a house on an acre or more for rent?  I'm in Georgetown now and need more space for my chickens (and roosters).  Or if anyone sees anything in the Liberty Hill, Georgetown, Hutto, etc.... my chickens have needs! :cd

I saw a sign just up the road. I'll get the # next time I go by if the sign is still up.

The Fancy Feathers Chicken show was my first chicken show. It tickled me how the roosters were all crowing. I do believe my girls would fare well in a show. I wouldn't. A lot of those poor chickens appeared stressed. First time to see Seramas. They are so cute. Picked up some cards for some breeders that breed my next favorite hens. :)

Dog gone it is still pouring rain here. I know we can always use the water, but better spacing out would be nice. I'm not gonna be able to do anything in my garden for another week or more, I had tomatoes and squash planted this time last year. Five of my birds were out of the yard this morning and got soaked. Couldn't get back over the fence I guess. My little catalana was so wet, she wasn't much bigger than a pigeon. They're all ok now, silly birds.

Check out this guy's brooder. I really like what he made. I'd love to do this, but don't have an area like his. I do have a huge dog kennel like his though and I am planning on using that. I was going to put a box inside it though. New plans. :)

I know what you mean, I just told my wife, if they run out of water, which they won't, tonight they can drink off each others back.

We don't leave the litter in the coops more than 2 days. It is constantly being changed, As you know, 4 birds can put out a lot of poop as they roost. In 2 days it is ready to be cleaned.
You should check out the Deep Litter method. I know there are some who don't like it, but I do and am glad I switched over! Check out these forums:
