Looking great my friend. Since the chicken not moving in yet, maybe some little infants can use your coop as their playgroung for a while :) So when is the Open House party?

Possible surprise on this first day for Spring!
As I was watching my young ladies play this morning I realized that Peeps and henretta's combs are a little bigger than everyone else's and it seems they may be beginning to turn red at the base of the comb. They are only a little over 2 weeks old so can't say for sure but they may end up being Henry and that's Mr. Peeps! Lol

My car needs to have the solenoid control valve replaced. I'm trying to get them to do it under warranty since my warranty just expired in December month-wise but I still have several thousand miles to go mile-wise.

I'm waiting to hear back from them.

Even if they can get the cost down some I won't be getting chickens. :( I'm in for over $200 right now with the part and the diagnostic run. I just can't make it work right now.

That as a very nice thing you folks did. My father in law hit a cow that was wandering the highway at 3am (he works weird hours) a few years back. He wasn't hurt but it totaled his truck and the cow had to be put down. So take heart, it was a trial for y'all but the horses were safe and so were other folks. Can say that's about par for the sherrif's department though. Glad all are safe. Rest and feel better tomorrow.

I would want someone to do the same for me if it were my horses out. It's just

!!!! When you get a "livestock out" call, looks like you would come with a plan. Don't sit and wait 2 hours before calling livestock pickup to come out!

Good Morning Texas!!!

Another Blessed and Glorious Day!!!

Got my coop all framed out and have 250 feet of hardware cloth (1/2 inch) ordered from my local Ace Hardware. Due in next week. Should have coop finished in the next few weeks!!

Just stopped in to say Hi

David

I got some of my hardware cloth at Ace. Very good price when you buy the larger rolls. Makes it harder to handle, but cheaper.
Yes, indeed a gorgeous day ... 1st day of Spring. Then at night is March Madness. So busy with work lately that I did not even have time to print the bracket.

Morning hung! How's that gorgeous baby of yours doing?

@ClovisMan ~ Great idea to hang your brooder over your nests. Your in the home stretch! Looking good!

First day of spring and it's 34 degrees here. Sun is out so should end up being a lovely day.

I really like them. They are reasonable too. Going to see if my local TS has them. If not will get them on line. Think I will get two to start with and see what happens. I like the fact that others can't get on top. Also that they are wall mounted as the back side of our chicken house is actually the outer wall of our little barn they will work well. Thanks for the info. Magpie

The one thing I don't like about them is that the bottom is slippery and the bedding tends to migrate up the sides (I use hay). A mat would stop that problem, but I just haven't put anything in the bottom under the bedding.

Mo progress:

Roost and poop tray. It's coated in the BlackJack Rubber roof patch that the floor is coated in. Should make it good and waterproof. The poop tray will have that PDZ stuff in it to keep smells done and make it easier to clean up. I have one of these on each side of the coop.

ClovisMan, I have a question that might not get an answer until the Texas heat arrives. Did you get it to harden/dry?

I painted some sort of roofing tar on the bottom of one of my portable coops but it would not dry or harden in the heat. I ended up scraping and washing it off with mineral spirits and then painting over with a roofing paint. I was NOT happy with what I used.

Wow, it's colder there than it was here this morning.

I was able to get the price of my car repair down from $535 to $357. That's a pretty big decrease. Still a hard hit for me, but not as bad now. :)

Still no chickens for me. I'm glad I have friends with chickens that I can get eggs from. My one friend has 12 and has eggs coming out her eyeballs right now.

I can continue accumulating supplies for my coop and build it over the fall/winter so that next spring I am all ready to go and not rushed. Maybe by then I will have made up my mind on the coop I want too! ;) The yard will have more cover for them as well since I am landscaping it over the spring and fall.

Patience!

If your local TSC doesn't have them in stock, they should be able to order them in for you.

Quote: Yes, this is not the roofing tar that gets sticky in the heat. It is a rubber based product that dries/hardens. I was able to walk on it within 2 hours of painting it on without it getting on my shoes or coming up. Someone else on BYC recommended it. He has had it on his floor for 4+ years and it still looks the same. BlackJack Rubbr-Coat #57 from Lowes.
