The little pullets will do the same thing, not just the cockerels.

I wouldn't worry too much about them especially if they are raised together and you separate them the way I am constantly doing with my frazzled roo.  Game breeds are a different ball game, and individuals from some regular breeds can be problematic.  Just remember, the problem is only if they both think they are equal and are strong enough mentally to not back down.  It's that commitment to fight to the end that gets  you serious injuries.  Game birds were bred for it.  Other birds aren't as committed to win a fight.  Most will have one that agrees to back down and the two will live in peace.  They work usually it out.  One other thing--I expected fighting roosters to make noise.  In my experience they don't so you could have two roosters fighting to the death just around the corner of the house and never know.

That's good to know. I would think they make noise too. Lol. One of them is more hands on and the other one kind of watches things from the background. He will put things in place from time to time but mostly stays back. But the other one is Mr. Social. Lol

Here is my new hen! Wynonna and of course her Prince, he has not left her side!

Well we went and done it! Brought home 10 little ones from TS Got them settled in a plastic crate with some hay for tonight until I can get fresh pine chips and get their pen covered tomorrow. Stole the heat lamp from the well house so they are warm and dry and safe. Took right to the food and water. 2 cuckoo marans, 2 brown and 2 white leghorn and 4 silver laced.

Wow, it's colder there than it was here this morning.

I was able to get the price of my car repair down from $535 to $357.  That's a pretty big decrease.  Still a hard hit for me, but not as bad now. :)

Still no chickens for me.  I'm glad I have friends with chickens that I can get eggs from.  My one friend has 12 and has eggs coming out her eyeballs right now.

I can continue accumulating supplies for my coop and build it over the fall/winter so that next spring I am all ready to go and not rushed. Maybe by then I will have made up my mind on the coop I want too! ;) The yard will have more cover for them as well since I am landscaping it over the spring and fall.

Patience!

Glad you got the cost down. I guess this gives you more time to find help building your coop. As an enabler I feel I should add that you could always have one little house chicken.

Magnolia here,

First time to raise 8 Aussie ladies. They are 8 weeks old and growing quickly and boy can they put away the feed. I have enjoyed watching them mature and explore and play in their run. I have 4 nesting boxes and worry that while they use the bottom two even now that they may not use the other two positioned just above them and possibly become to crowded to lay eggs. Any words of advice?

Will get some pics tomorrow. I just hope I can do everything right and keep them healthy. there is so much that can go wrong when they are so little. They had duckies too but not ready for them yet maybe next year will get ducks. Going to fix them some electrolyte water right away. These babies are gonna be so spoiled!
