I already know this place is going to get way too much of my money.
I KNOW at some point I'm going to be paying $100 for a Partridge Orpington. And chocolate, and a blue, and a legbar....just a matter of time.

Seriously??? $100 for a chicken? I just could not justify that. I mean, I guess I understand to the ones who want to breed and show these beautiful birds, but no way for this practical gal. LOL

Wow everyone's getting birds or hatching and I'm just here staring at my chicks waiting on August to roll around so I can start collecting fresh eggs. Yummyyy.

I wish I could find a good enough excuse to make a trip to McKinney and get some if those gorgeous BCMs I keep seeing pictures of.

Also, does anyone in east Texas a have a spare Gander? A friend of mine has a lonely hen. Not sure the breed and she doesn't care she just wants another goose.

Update on things around the farm!! - The puppies are finally weaned. They shared an egg breakfast with the preteens in the shed this morning and spent the day following me around while I patched fence line. My horses are notorious escape artists and my Mustang made pushed over 100 or so feet of rotten boards with one bump of her chest. That was exciting. DF got home from work this morning and came racing in to tell me how proud he was of catching Mama... It was cute. But I had to fix the fence after he was in bed. Stay at home wife has turned into stay at home do-everything... Fence mender, coop builder, animal Care taker, and I'm also in charge of clearing out all of the yaupon and pine I want gone.... But it's coming along nicely!! Wish I had before pictures, but I'll post some after pictures next week.... You just have to pretend you remember not being able to see from the front fence top the horses pasture. ;-)

The babies got to spend a little time outside today while it was nice. They had a blast! Had some tiny chicken football going on over a few crickets. It was adorable. Preteens go into their big girl coop Monday. It's almost ready!!! Yay!!

Ok, these are my "mutts" , what do you think about gender? The other one from this group has a nice henley comb and wattle. They are 5 months old.

They look like pullets to me--no long pointed hackles, saddle feathers and I don't see any sickle feathers in the tails.

The Wheatens are coming in May. Unplanned chicken.

Brings my total to 5. I have not exceeded my self imposed limit. Yet. lol!
Cream legbars lay blue eggs. Combine with BCM's and you get Olive Eggers. :) I can't have a roo though.
Wheaten what? Wheaten is only a color.
