Here are my chicks. 3 Speckled Sussex, 3 Ameracaunas, and 3 Australorps (black cotton balls)

Here is the newest hatch from yesterday. This one is fine. Normal feet and is already following Belle's instructions on how to peck chick feed. Also introduced it to water. Had to put a big handful of my polished stones in the bowl.

It has two tiny black dots on it's head and a small black spot on the left wing.
So cute!

I know nobody really cares, but we had a first today. We have 9 birds and got 9 eggs, for the first time!!!
Wow! That is awesome! I can't wait to get an egg. It is going to be a bit though.

I'd really, really, really like some BCM's. I'm in Katy which is west of Houston. The only thing I can find is ordering and then it's only chicks. I'm not set up for chicks and don't want to wait that long for eggs. My pet chicken has juvenile BCMs but it's 75$ to shop one!!! Brookshire11 on this forum lives up near Dallas and is coming down here in a couple of weeks and has graciously offered bring down hens if I can find some close by her or between there and here. You seem very knowledgable about this breed, do you have any idea where I could find some?? Within a reasonable $ amount. Not show quality just backyard chicken quality. Lol
I will help you look too. Did they lady in Honey Grove ever get back to you?

All I do is let them free range from 7:00am to dusk. They have access to layer crumbles and scratch the whole time they are out. The only problem with that is I have to keep the coops/runs open. I have to check for eggs throughout the day to keep the snakes away. I am really lucky to have the job I do, I am home 90% of the day, so I can do this.
Isn't it great to work from home? :)

It's been a stressful day. Glad it is almost over. The twins I watch drove me crazy today. I'm surprised I didn't have to pull the girl off the ceiling. Spring fever hyperness has really hit!

You should hear my siblings' remarks about me having the chicks in the bathroom! They are all city folk!

Lisa :)
I thought it was clever and briefly thought about that at my house. lol! It won't work here. We don't have an extra bathroom.

I do have my bike room/chicken room though. ;)

My DF looked at me funny when I told him the spare room when we finish building the new house ( three bedroom ) isn't going to be a guest room. Its gonna be for my incubator and chicks. He seems to think its for when the in laws visit. Doesn't he know that's what we keep the travel trailer for? ;)

It started out innocently. I had a nice box with 6 chicks. No problem. I made the mistake of going to the feed store and I picked up 3 more. Box is getting smaller and smaller. I started leaving the top off so they could fly to the top of the box. Next thing I know they are walking around on the floor. O what the heck, newspapers and shavings here they come!! The thing is if I have the bathroom converted.......chicken math anyone??? I am soooooo doomed!

Lisa :)
