Texas

My EE's are very stand offish! My BR's are getting nicer. I had one jump up on my knee the other day.
Lol, they're opposites!
My BR is the only one I have to "catch" to go in at night. She's a stinker...
Still love her!

We had scrambled egg sandwiches for lunch so made up extra. Added some cooked oats and parsley. Going to take it to the little ones. They haven't had any thing special in a week, just chick feed.
My girls have gotten scraps ("trimmings" from my co-op produce) every day this week.
Their picky butts eat everything but the cabbage and the parsley stems. It's funny.
Their favorite is still watermelon! They'll eat a whole half of a melon together

I still haven't given them any watermelon. I read they really like pumpkin too...seeds and all. My big birds love the stem/core of sweet peppers. They love the seeds and will pick up the core and run away to a corner with it.

Yeah he is and my hubby is fixing to cut his spurs and his cone. I dont want his cone cut but hubby said it needs to be done. My other two rooster have already been done. I will put pics of them on later when I go back out to coops. But sam is really tame. So he dont kick to much lol just lays his head in my hand when I feed him abd crows when he sees me coming and when he wants to see me come running he acts like something is gettibg him so I will come running out the back door. Little brat
I know what the spurs are, but what is the cone? I don't know rooster anatomy.

Oh yummy. I need to make some bread so I can have an egg sandwich. I have been wanting to make oatmeal bread but haven't had time.
I need to compare the posted recipe with the one I already have. I think they are almost the same. Very yummy bread.

Watermelon is great for cooling down hot hens in the summer. Get it super cold, cut it in half and serve. :) The seeds are even good for them too.

She meant comb, she is talking about dubbing I believe, usually done in colder weather to reduce the chance of frostbite. Originally dubbing was done on the "working" game chickens so they were not obstructed during the event.

ETA: it is also a requirement for some show breeds, old English game LF come to mind.

Ok I'll be doing that. that would just be too much fun to watch. Chicken antics are so much fun to watch. Ours love to play chicken scoccer with a dinner roll...until somebody snatches it up and runs in the chicken house with it.

What is a working game chicken? Similar to pheasants that are raised and hunted?

It's big enough so they don't have to fight over it! lol
I haven't done either of those yet. I guess..birds don't mind spicy?

I was thinking the same about the cone...lol

I'll have to do that. Kiera and the girls literally all had a picnic and ate watermelon together. It was cute. I should have gotten pictures.
...obviously Kiera had her own plate...lol

Is "working" code for more dubious extra curriculars?
