Alas! My first batch of hatching eggs was a no go. Guess I'll perform an egg-topsy to see what happened. Hard to say. The PO scrambled and/or crushed most of them. My incubator is all digital and calibrated. Had three nights the temperature got down to 98.8. That could be it. Air circulation is plenty good with two fans. No high temperature spikes to speak of(100.3 one time). Humidity was relatively stable except for two evenings when it got a bit (5-7%) low. Oh well. We'll see what happened as best we can.

3 nights at temp less than 98.8 would not do that, unless the temps were super low. At what ages did they die?

I started out knowing what I wanted but then I keep seeing other breeds that I would like too!! I only have 63 acres so I don't have room for all of them!! Lol

Hi folks...Just popped in to see what's new. I saw pics of chicks!

Welcome to the all new chicken lovers...love this forum...just good country folk here...good info, good talk and good recipes!

It's raining and kinda miserable. Chickens were not happy to be in lockdown today...sorry kids!

Will catch up when I get back. Just on a break, must go back to church for our womens appreciation day program.
Hubby and I made chicken spaghetti to feed at least 60 people but with the weather we might see half that many so alot of people may be taking home extra. I surely have no room for it my fridge is full of coffee cans full of eggs! Priorities ya know!

Do you make your own sauce? can you can it up if you make a batch like that or do you add the noodles to it?
Can noodles be canned in soup or sauce or do they get nasty?
That would be a great Recipe to have for a stock up day to do easy meal on hot day.

lets see 60 servings at 1 cup each makes 4 servings per Quart that is 15 meals for a family of 4. not a bad days work

Four out of eight were a crapshoot. Never got the air cell to attach properly. The other four seemed to be doing good until the last two weeks, but they were all dark eggs. It was hard to tell from day one. Fortunately, round two eggs looked great when they got here. Air cells intact, etc. I really think the PO just rattled them too much. Twenty four eggs. Nine were okay. Three of those were cracked but not leaking. One was a no go at week two. Pretty sure the others met the same fate. Win some and lose some. It's a fowl game. Lmao.

Picture time! Here are some updated pics of my Cubalays. The hens are just over a year the boys are about 9 months. The two boys were raised together and got along great until I introduced the girls. Now I have to keep them in different pens. When free ranging the #2 boy hangs out near the dogs and the #1 boy gets all the girls. These pics were taken today when it was overcast and they still look like spun gold. Here is #2 Here is #1 with his girl and a cat, he gets everything

Your rooster is very pretty. I can not have a rooster. I get scared when my nutty Princess, Rhode Island White, talks too loud. Someone in the neighborhood has a problem with me having therapy chickens, but is too chicken$hit to come to me with their complaint. I really don't think anyone has complained. I think this person on the board just wants to cause trouble. Thank God for the ADA laws.
