I was terrified of geese as a kid. They'd always chase me!
Even now I'll steer away from them lol
but I wonder how they are when you raise them from chicks? Less aggressive?
Yes, Chinese geese are the geese that everyone labels as devils and aggressive. But look.....

These pics were taken about a month ago before the geese feathered out. Some of the Chickens are best friends with the geese and cry something fierce when I take the geese out and leave them behind. I only have 2 left from this group of 6 goslings, 1 died and 3 went to live at their new home once they were old enough.

Hi I'm from Bandera just about in the middle of nowhere. The closest big (meaning more than a population of 1000)cities are Beorne and Kerrville. We are just 20 miles west of Beorne and 40 miles south of Kerrville.

Hello lisaterrell88 broken eggs in a hen can be potentially fatal for the bird while you can attemp to remove the egg yourself it is best to take the hen to you're local avian or livestock vet
I hope I didn't scare you lisaterrell88 I could be totally wrong and hope I am...there are probably other things that cause clear vent fluid...it just seemed logical plus the other symptoms you mentioned.

Geese aren't for everyone. They are bossy, loud, and have different nutritional needs. But a gosling that has been hand raised acts more like a pet dog than a bird. The gosling pictured in my lap, Jasper, absolutely loves crawling into my lap for some snuggles. I think he is waiting for my feathers to come in so he can claim me as his female!

I do have an interesting problem however. My 8 week old chicks either think they are part goose, or refuse to leave their buddies to roost like proper chickens. How can I teach them?

Hello folks! Just introducing myself....I'm a brand new chicken mom here in Central Texas smack dab in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the "Texas triangle" (formed by Dallas, Houston, San Antonio). Got my girls (after five years of dreaming!) a few weeks ago and they moved into their new coop last night. Can't wait to learn from all you Texas chicken folks. I am concerned about the summer heat so maybe you can advise and the temps go up. Anyway, Hi!

Welcome from another Central Texan! Glad to hear you finally quit dreaming and got you some girls! I'm new to this as well but what I've gathered from these fine folks so far (about heat tolerance) is plenty of ventilation, shade, put ice in their water and perhaps give them a small kiddie pool to stand in.

We had geese several years ago, maybe 5 or so? They were great with me, but I was the only one who messed with them. They would still chase the rest of the family. It was hilarious!

Mine were the brown Toulouse? They were very sweet, at least to me. Only problem we had is they would rather hang out in the yard instead of the pond/pasture. Tore up every plant I had planted. :(

We got a little bit of rain last night. Not much, but the back porch still shows dampness. It's foggy here this morning.

I have a rolling fear of geese. To many times being chased. But they're beautiful birds and I'd love to have them if we ever expand away from just chickens.

I think I might get turkeys again though. They were so much fun and I was beyond excited when my ladies finally started laying.

I think my fox stole one of my cockerals yesterday. Down one teen during last nights head count and one of the pullets was running around doing the help me I'm lost peep outside of the fence.

The cockeral thats missing was a Houdini and I have yet to figure out how he got out every day.

Heading to am early morning doctor appointment. I officially quit smoking and my doctor will be glad to hear it.
