At least they will get a chuckle out of my animals being cute and silly. I know their antics make my day.
It's amazing how well dogs and cats can get along. They do provide a lot of enjoyment!!

By law any dog that bites a human, and the human reports it of coarse, the dogs owners must product a rabies certificate. The dog, regardless of rabies certificate or not is seized and quarantined, if it doesn't have a rabies certificate it's head is cut off and sent for testing and the owners are responsible for all costs ect.
However, the people around here to go great lengths not to go through this. When I was 18 I went for a walk at night, cooling off from a fight with my parents. A mid sized dog charged from across the street and bit me at the back of my knee joint, a typical hamstring attack to disable prey. I went home and showed my parents and older sister (she is 10 years older than I) the injury. I was wearing jeans but the dog still drew blood. My sister drove me to the owners house, and the dog attacked again. We told them what happened, we're informed the dog was defending her litter of pups! Yes they would bring the rabies certificate. The next day we went back, they wouldn't answer so we called the cops. The dog had been removed to another property and without the dog there was nothing the sheriff could do. So the moral of the story is call the cops right then and there, don't wait and don't play nice with people whose dog bites you. I got lucky, someone else may not be so lucky.
I still live in the same neighborhood, I purchased the house behind my parents to be close to my mother who has brain cancer.

Yes, but we will still pick on you too. Where have you been lately? How is Charlie? Can I give him an ovation for courage?
So sorry about ur mom. I will pray for u all. Mine is fighting breast cancer. I know about rabies/dogs. My son was bit accidentally when the neighbors dog went for a ball my so. & his friend were playing w/. Talked to the neighbors & the lady was so upset. I felt bad for her. They cldn't find the rabies certificate, but got a copy from their vet & showed it to us the next day. If the dog wasn't vaccinated, I wld have taken my don to get the rabies series. I was just wondering if the cops/ animal control wld come get the vicious dogs if they bit some1 or wld they still claim it was out of city limits?
I believe they would then come get it. But it is sad that a human has to be bitten first. They should remove the dogs Before it bites, especially when multiple people call and report dangerous dogs loose.
Pretty dog & glad he is working outPut Deep Litter Method in the BYC search engine, you will find many posts about the subject. I'd vote resting up for Marathon Weekend!!Welcome to BYC and the ever running Texas thread! Look out for Lisa. She's a great greeter and even better enabler!!
I think I've missed part of the conversation (how I don't know. It's not like this thread moves very fast!) I think ya'll are talking about strays/drop offs? We have a lot here. In fact, 3 of my 4 dogs are "throw aways". I have taken in a lot of dogs, had them vetted and rehomed. It gets expensive and you never know what a stray might have/carry. I look at it this way, I take care of my dogs. I feed and water, give them a warm/dry place to stay, take them to the vet for shots and emergencies. I don't have the time or money to take care of other people's cast offs. If we notice a stray hanging around, and can't run it off, we take care of it. I have a 4 yr old granddaughter that stays with me while her mom works. I'm not willing to risk her health/life by trying to care for a stray. Not to mention my own animals that I don't want getting sick/hurt by a stray dog. Dropping off unwanted pets out in the country is not the "free and happy" life people think they are giving their animals. If they're lucky, the coyotes get them within a couple of days. If not, they either starve to death, get hit by a car or a land owner shoots them and puts them out of their misery. It is misery, wandering around wondering why your "family" ran off and left you. It's great some of ya'll are willing to take in strays, I have and will on occasion, but they've got to be something really special to risk my family and animals for. Here is a my last rescue. I've had him over a year now. The only reason he is here is because DH never could get a bead on him before I took pitty on him and took him it. He's one of the best dogs ever. He catches, rats, rabbits, moles and my dogs have killed 2 coons within the past 3 months.
He's a Jack-Rat, Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix. I'm sure he will be an A-1 chicken killer too! But I'm working on him! Off to T-ball. Have a great evening!

People tell me all the time that Sinerian Huskies can't live with cats, they will kill them. Pfft, my dog Dawn has her own pet cat, that cat loves her and only her and Dawn returns that affection. Dawn got all mad when one of the puppies started messing with her cat and ran to the rescue, lol. I actually had more problems with the Rott, Fiona, the day we brought her home she bit the little cat and held it in her mouth and brought to to me. I was already running to get there. The shelter I adopted the Fiona from assured me she was cat friendly and I was furious. Rushed the kitten to the vet and was told no injuries, except maybe some minor bruising. Thought about it on the 45 minute drive back and figured she didn't know what the cat was. So I started to train her and discovered she wanted to mother it! I was really confused and worried but if I sent the dog back she would be euthanized immediately. She is now very loving towards the cat she bit, more than the others. When I brought 2 puppies home, Phantom and Cheyenne, and they started chasing the cats, Fiona, would get between them and the kitten. Guess you could say that 2 of my cats have personal body guards lol. Fiona guards the littlest cat, and Dawn guards the lighter of the 2 calico's. the other 2 cats have Rascal, my Belgian. He don't particularly like cats, but accepts them. He also enforces my rules among the dogs, if he sees 1 dog harass the cat he ignores it, but if 2 are he gets in there and stops it. Lol.
