EXACTLY what happened to my run. lol.Another thing to look forward to, after the ducks have been re-homed, is the return of the grass in our chicken yard. I was looking back at photos from the day we brought them home, and I noticed how the grass had been almost completely replaced with mud.Ha-ha!![]()

Your advice is awesome! My advice is go and have a great time. Deal with it when you get home. That will definitely keep your hands and mind off of whats going on in the bator. You can remove chicks or yuck eggs when you return. They don't usually hatch at an exact time and sometimes not even on the expected day. They might still be in hatching stages when you return. GO enjoy your husband and children. Lots of chickens in the world but time with our families can not be replaced.

I took the loss and put down hay in the run and just let them out to free range in the evening lol
I rent so I don't want to destroy the whole yard lol
It'll grow back! lol EventuallyWe just bought our home last summer, and this is a 400sq/ft fenced-off section of our yard (courtesy of the previous owners...it used to be her dog run). I don't mind the loss of grass, really, but after our ducks are re-homed, I have a feeling our chickens will enjoy grass again (eventually).![]()

My dog pen was green and grassy, then the dogs went back there and it is mud city. I think that a yard that is small suffers more for pets walking, eating, and potting on it then if it were spread out dome more. Let's hope my yard is big enough to support all these chickens, ducks, and geese, lolAnother thing to look forward to, after the ducks have been re-homed, is the return of the grass in our chicken yard.
