One of my barred rock hens died on me a few mins ago. She did not look well when I took her out of the box this morning after picking them up from the post office. I called ideal and they said to call them by Friday if I lose anymore. The rest seem to be eating and drinking ok.

Sorry u lost one of ur babies. I hope the rest are ok.

My babies are 3 weeks old today. I am feeding them medicated chick grower but when can I start introducing them to scratch to without it hurting them.

I am interested in this answer as well. My chicks range in age from 4 weeks up to 9 weeks old. They only get starter crumble, grit, and free range time right now. At what age can they all safely get scratch?

Made my 1st make-shift nesting box for Fred, my laying White Leghorn. Hope she uses it...found her eggs hiding in their yard yesterday. :p

Very nice. If she doesn't use it you may have to put fake eggs in there to show her what itis for. Fake eggs are $1 at feed store that carry them, or you can use gold balls I am told. Good luck!

I second that question. I'm getting some Barred Rock pullets this evening. They're fully feathered but still young. Do they take chick feed or grower? What point to you switch to layer feed?
