I got the first dog i ever had after I "flew the nest" when working at the same college. He was a german shepherd mix who donated a kidney. He was part of a different program back when kidney transplants were still new and research was being done. He wass due for euthanazia and give the other kidney but I rescued him. Dusty...one of the best dogs I ever had. My kids grew up with him. Lived a good long life...lived out his life on a farm when I moved here.

DH has a saying...There are three things that are useless and should be disposed of properly...
A child abuser...An animal abuser...and.wet toilet paper!
I like to throw in used cat litter myself,,,lol

AMEN!!! I will be nice and not say what is on my mind, but I agree!! Cat litter was a bad invention. I believe cats have a litter box that is unlimited... OUTSIDE!!

I've decided I need to reduce my flock. It's going to be a couple of months before we can get the exterior run built, and I feel that I have too many chicks in my coop. I will be putting the RIR's and the Comet's up for sale if anyone is interested. PM me and I'll give you all the info.

That would bring me down to 15, which would be more manageable with my current coop until we have the time to put up the run. They will be 15 wks old on 06/05/2014.

My new marans: super cute and so chickeny. They are only 5-6 weeks old (if that) and they have been outside since I got them home (Sunday)
I have a guinea pig cage with chicken wire around it to make a pretty big run for 5 weekers and this separates them from the big girls. No heat at night. Everyone is doing gone. This is the way to go. Totally
