Got three eggs in 1 day! But I think the one I found in the poop board had been there for a couple days. Next day I went outside and one of my leg horns was in the nesting box. Went out later and found an egg! The 4 that are laying are about 17 weeks! So excited to he getting eggs everyday!

Congrats! Beautiful hens btw.

Is anyone near the DFW area going to be ordering day old chicks in the next few weeks?

I'm just a small backyard chicken farmer and want to get two chicks to stick under a broody. I'm just wanting to get a welsummer and an easter egger (hatcheries call them Amerucanas I guess) and am hoping that someone is willing to order those two in addition to what they're ordering and I can pay you for them and pick them up.

Aw man! We have awful timing...lol
I JUST received my chicks from Ideal last Thursday. Although I don't think they had Welsummers

If you're willing to pay a little extra for shipping, you could check out Meyer Hatchery.
I got 2 EEs from there in January and was pretty happy with their quality. The trip is just a long one from Ohio. You can order as few as 3, it's just that shipping is expensive..
Or you could check out the feed stores. I'm in McKinney and I know the D&L AgMart has chicks pretty much year round.

If you're able to find someone to order with, try Ideal. I got my chicks the day after they shipped and every single one was happy and active. Didn't lose one!
