I went to a feed store today to get DE and they wanted 59.99 for a 40lb bag!!! Ridiculous!!! I am going to the feed store by my job or tractor supply tomorrow. They have it for 15.99 or 19.99 for a 40-50lb bag.
The higher priced DE is the food grade. My feed store gets almost $14 for a 1.5 lb bag. There are different grades from what I understand. Be sure you are getting the grade you want.

Supposedly what they told me was that what they had was food grade. Guess I will have to make sure though! =)

So I was wondering if any of my chickens have those shiny green feathers or the gold edging that means they are boys? If so I'm in trouble and have 2 girls and 6 boys. These are the 2 i'm wondering about. The Silver one =boy?

The one on the far right =boy?

Only one in this picture that is female is the light buff one closest to the feeder?

I think I'm gonna have to separate my 2 hens and keep them in the coop to stay safe until I rehome all of these boys.

Depends on the breed but that white one definitely looks like a boy. The one with the longer tail feathers
I have an ee hen that has black/green feathers on her tail

My yokohama pullet had a purple comb and is lethargic. She was fine yesterday. Walking around, eating and drinking. Today after work she is just standing like she was in the pic above. She is eating cracked corn out of my hand. Is it possible she is egg bound with her first egg? Any other possibilities? None of the other pullets or hen are acting sick. We did just have a drastic weather change from 100 down to the 60's and 70's, could that do it?

It does indeed look like they are all almost boys.

Can you gently feel her crop? Is it soft and watery or hard and full?
This time of day it should be hard and full.

I don't know about egg binding, but I had one turn lethargic on me and after searching and searching I found a sour crop. (mushy, waterbed feeling crop). We got it treated and made a full recovery.

It was soft and watery I guess? It definitely was not full... it just kind of felt like when they wake up in the morning, just empty. Not really squishy like a water balloon. What did you do to fix the sour crop? She is nibbling at her food now and at scratch grains. I also added a tiny bit of hummingbird feed to her water to give her some sugars, not even a teaspoon, she seemed to like it a lot before bedding down again.

Update:

Well I checked on her again after setting her up with a heat lamp. She isn't acting much better. I don't think she will make it through the night... She is much weaker now. She is still drinking water, I don't know much else to do.
