Texas

I like snakes, just not after my poultry, would have liked to have saved it but it was too badly injured. Considering using the netting around any coops I don't have guineas in.

I asked because I have seen a couple of brands of the snake repellent in stores. Have never tried them. I also posted in the emergenciea/diseases/injuries and cures section and someone said DE sprinkled in and around the coop. It got into the workshop with my brooder and got tangled up in the bird net. I failed to notice it until I would have been within striking distance if it had been venomous and not half dead. We spread DE around the brooder and floor so I could see slither marks if another on got in. So hopefully it works as a repellent too.

I have been told to use Sulfur. just the garden stuff and it kills pests in the coop and around the yard HOWEVER if you willingly have outdoor cats by choice don't use sulfur it can kill them

I thought I was being so clever!!!! Guess I need something stronger than Rubber Maid!
My ladies have attacked so many squirrels my yard is now free of them!

Do Guineas eat snakes? My ladies get the little ones but I haven't seen but 1 big one here in 10 years.

And welcome to all you newcomers!!!

I don't know about y'all. ... Even with all of the rain we've gotten recently we're still dry. Rivers are high, yes. Lakes flooded, yes. Some soggy spots? Yes. Still dry? Scarily so.

I'm with you Kate!! Did not take long to dry out here in Belott!!!

Hopefully a little relief coming!!

Hope all is well with you and John!!!!

tjo804 - Thanks for the info, won't use anything with sulphur in it then. I have indoor cats so I would not want to track it in. Plus a couple of toms outside that are more than welcome to stick around but they are only occasional visitors. Will stick with wire the big ones can't fit through and will let the guineas do the rest. Plus netting around the brooders...Picked up more barred Holland pullet chicks I ordered plus 2 extra buff Orphingtons
