Texas

There's nothing wrong with linking to your blog if it's legitimate content that you want to share with others. What I'm talking about is when I have followed a pin through 16 different websites before getting to the actual plans for something and sometimes I find out that it's just a stock photo of something and not something someone made when the pinner claimed there were plans. It's the dozens of webpages before getting to what you're interested in links that tick me off because it's obvious sometimes that it's a view-milking operation to generate revenue from ads.

When I find the original source, I repin from that to save other people the frustration and to give the views to the original source. I see it as people stealing views(which can translate into real currency if you get enough of them), from the person that originally made the content because most people give up if they have to keep clicking on a post with just a link and maybe a sentence or two over and over again. The people just posting links to links to other links are making money off your views but the person that actually did the work, the original creator of the content, doesn't if you never make it to their content.

I would buy it if it was reasonable....I have made swings for my birds...one.... In the Texas sun..rope disinergrates my stick a bit bigger around than yours....rotted and snapped when my Cochin went for her morning swing. Not a happy camper. The rest looks good....good job! I have no pens this won't fit into...oops two tractors ...yes I do! Maybe you could also just sell the swing as a unit that hangs...I know that seems silly...but not all of us want the aggravation of figuring that all out...I would buy 13 swings I could just hang up either in the coop or run tomorrow if they sold them. Lol

I agree if you market it like a childs swing set all or separate pieces you could expand on the idea and before you know it people will be buying huge playscapes for their chickens! I always use 2x4 as perches in my coops and dont like the small pre fab bars in the coops but my perches dont swing so the ladies dont need to hold on. Yes Texas for more than 6 mo or a year of use it will need to be on something sturdy like the covered wire for dog tie outs. I have not actually see a chicken on a swing but I would study the feet as they use it to see if it is easier for them to hold on to the round or a square pole. Or if the pole had some kind of gripper for their feet like the bark of a tree has. not smooth surface.

There seems to be ALOT of interest in chicken swings right now! even to just google it there are a few on the market.

A couple of things I look for are Sturdy, Well constructed, Stand up to the Sun and easy to clean.

Hope this helps I think you are on the right track and it is gaining popularity right now. You might even be able to market it to your local feed store or have a booth at a 4h fair.

Good luck! You might have the next garage started thing in that swing.

Well this is the first time I have posted in ages and wanted to give you a description of my beautiful Sunday afternoon. I recently had a sickly hen and consulted al longtimer n BYC for advice. Did all he said but alas I still lost my beautiful Louise. Anywho, I had started worming with Walzine 1 days ago and was starting Safegard today. Now all advise said it was pretty easy. One suggestion was to put dosage on piece of bread and just keep up with who got the bread. Man, they are fast little boogers and crafty little thieves. So next idea was to catch, get someone to hold and squirt dosage right into mouth. One person said if you tug on the waddle, they would pen mouth and make it easy peasy. My problem. Husband is recovering from a 3 1/2 month stay in the hospital sooo, not really anyone to help me. Let me tell you, it was a rodeo. I did complete the chore but it was not EASY. Plus, some of my hens have little or no waddle and they did not like the syring. By the end of the ordeal, I was getting better at the task but believe me, this has been a real learning experience.

HAPPY SUNDAY

I feel your pain. Tomorrow were doing decals on the pens. Lord help me if I have to worm the flock after all of this rain.

I spent today and yesterday working on pens and lolligagging. I spent half the day staring at birds and half the day actually working on stuff. I know I spent a solid hour just staring at my quail, wondering how to split them up since I wont be completing pens until this weekend.

It seems like it has been ages since I've been on. I spent this evening catching up.

Hello to all the newbies! I am so sad and sorry to hear about all the losses.

It has been wet on and off here. I have never been so happy to build my coop off the ground. My girls stayed dry! They are 19 weeks old now. Their combs and waddles are growing and their faces are becoming bright red. I have 3 leghorns and 4 RIR.

I have notices several building nest in the yard in their favorite areas. I opened up their nest boxes and I am trying to encourage them to use them. Any advice? I am hoping to see some eggs soon! I already have people who have said they are interested in buying eggs. I don't know if I will have that many left over. I guess it's time to get more chickens!

Put fake eggs in the nestboxes. If that doesn't work, add some curtains over the nest boxes so they will be curious about what's behind them.
