Texas

On the bright side, if it doesn't rain tomorrow on me, my chicken coop will be done, and the 23 chicks that have overgrown their brooder will go live outside. The 55 gallon rain barrel platform is built, painted, and ready. I just need get the hole saw ready, pull in the hose and assemble the Chicken Fountain, and throw the hay down.

I had a brainstorm,(or brainfart) today, and am putting it to the test. I need some honest feedback from y'all, as to whether this is a good idea or bad. Whether it will sell or not. Keep in mind, this is only a prototype, will tweak to perfection, if found worthy.

This is a portable chicken swing. I realize that it cannot be used in smaller runs, but it can be used in the larger runs, and if you freerange at all, you can easily move to a different location. I am trying it out on my birds, to see how it works out.

Please tell what you think, and be honest, I can take it.
That would be great for folks that have large runs or even for people that free range their birds. I would also market it to turkey owners. We just got poults this year and the hubby is wanting to make them some swings because they are so much more active and crazier than even our chicks are. I think it would work for folks that wanted to give their turkey poults something to do.

I'd buy it if I could

Yeah, the first two roaches hung around in the brooder for weeks before it clicked for my older chicks that it was just like the yummy treats I'd been giving them. It grossed me out having them in there a ton because I HATE roaches but I kept telling myself that they would get it and thankfully they did because I was about to dispose of the disgusting crawlies myself at that point. Now, it's their favorite food and they will all drop everything when they see one.

The second batch of chicks in the other brooder(3 week difference between batches) ate their first roachy visitor on their second day out of the shipping box without having to be taught by me. I always assumed that animal communication was learned from the mother animal but now I wonder as they were afraid of the thing for half an hour after noticing it and then suddenly seemed to collectively change their minds and go for it.

Is it a portable chicken perch/swing?

Oh yuck! Lol! Good babies! Roaches give me mini heart attacks. Like no lie :/

I would buy it if it was reasonable....I have made swings for my birds...one.... In the Texas sun..rope disinergrates my stick a bit bigger around than yours....rotted and snapped when my Cochin went for her morning swing. Not a happy camper. The rest looks good....good job! I have no pens this won't fit into...oops two tractors ...yes I do! Maybe you could also just sell the swing as a unit that hangs...I know that seems silly...but not all of us want the aggravation of figuring that all out...I would buy 13 swings I could just hang up either in the coop or run tomorrow if they sold them. Lol

Looks great! Do y'all like swings? New to chickens so I'm not sure what exactly a swing does.

Briza to answer your question we raise our beef, sheep and poultry along with fish now for our own consumption. All is raised antibiotic and growth hormone free. Sheep are the only livestock the we raise enough of to sell on the market. When I get the pens built I may raise enough all natural broilers and turkeys so that we can sell a few of those. ET

Thank you for the link. I am now following your board. I'd given up on pinterest since a lot of people use it just to milk it for views on their blogs but it's refreshing to see someone putting their own content on there.
I do re-pin and link to my blog but only if I think it is useful information. ET
