Texas

Been gone so long @_@ So many posts to catch up on. I hope everyone is okay with the storms. I know my coop turned into soup again. I had to rush home to make sure my rabbits didn't float away. I have 14 new additions to the home, little rabbits! So exciting! They are adorable. We will be raising them to go to freezer camp, aside from the ones that are getting adopted. :) We have two chicks that hatched from my broody hen, and she has merged with the flock and they are doing well. I am going to be removing all roosters from the flock soon, as in the spring I am going to be getting either pheonix chicks or red shoulder yokohama and I plan to have at least a trio of them. I have been craving these breeds for a while, and while we were going to go with salmon faverolles since they are wonderful birds, we decided against it since we know our yard floods on occasion and the feathered feet would be a mess. My cochins already are a problem haha. Has anyone ever had pheonix or yokohamas? I would love to hear your remarks of how well they do here in texas. We have found homes for our last two german shepherd puppies it seems. One will be going to her home after her new owners say goodbye to their old shepherd who is not doing well. I told them I would wait and they could take all the time they need. As for Mark, who we were going to keep, me and my husband decided we honestly cannot afford another large dog, and as much as it hurts me we went on the hunt for a home. He will be going to a trainer for two weeks so she can evaluate him and see if he will work in her program, if he does he will be an all around dog doing scent work, bite work, and so on. She might even give him to the police deparment as a working dog. :) Otherwise he will be coming back to us if she believes he does not fit. I know for a fact he is a wonderful herding dog. I started to yell at him the other day for chasing the chickens when I was trying to put them back in the coop, but then I watched as he slowly chased them into the coop then left them alone and went to the next set and was trying to get them back in the coop. Smart boy! I have also been able to leave them out in the yard alone with the chickens, I am so proud, though I am watching from the back window haha. I really wish I could keep him, he is such a smart boy, but I have to try and be smart with our decisions right now and what we can afford to feed and keep up on proper medications for.

They are adorable!

ShadowsFIAL - if you have issues with it being soggy you may wany to avoid the long tails as well. My Cubalayas tails ended up a mess, and they don't get as long the ones you mentioned. Although I think there are contraptions out there to tie the tails up to keep them pretty for shows.

400

Yesterday's eggs, green is duck.

I think they finally fixed the mobile pic posting issue.

My girls are loving this post rain weather. The bugs are plentiful and since my last boarder moved out and I haven't managed to snag a new one yet, one of my pens is getting overrun with woody weed. The girls have been out there each afternoon for about a week and wow, I can really see the difference. You used to not be able to see ground under the weeds! The young Yankees haven't braved the world this far from the barn yet, but they came close.

Goodness my how they have grown! It's hard to do the right thing when they are such wonderful dogs but you are doing the best for everyone.

The broken tails I can deal with, my chickens not being able to walk is another story haha, and I don't mind tying my roosters tail up in a little bun, might take a while to learn how but I don't mind. :) I have to soak my cochin's feet due to the fact that their feet become a mud shoe that is too hard for them to break off. Poor chickies, they don't get their feet soaked often so they don't like it lol

Yeah. I have to keep telling myself that. I am going to cry on tuesday when he leaves me. ;A;
