Texas

Hello all :). I hope you can help me. I'm looking for three to four ameracaunas and/or Easter eggers that are currently laying but would like them no more than a year old. I'm willing to pay a fair price and they will definitely have a good home with the rest of my flock. Thanks in advance for any and all help with my search

Ok lets try this again.... (techincal issue.. sorry)

Where are you located?

I'm in Trinity. Sorry, didn't see if anyone had posted for my location. I'm a bit behind.

Is the SOP available online or do I have to buy the whole book? I understand that it was recently updated from the 2003 version, is that right? I may never show but will need the SOP to buy good stock and cull my flock.

orumpoultry-- Why don't you see if your friend want to take the little guy? Easier than you starting a whole new flock. LOL just an idea.

I only see them at work, and they haven't been back through to ask. Don't have their numbers, either.

I'll second the polish farms referral. Dan helped me out when I got started. Its a bit of a drive for you from Arlington, but it's not awful. Welcome!

I don't mind driving a bit when it's worth it. :) Thanks!

Jim- welcome. Do you have an idea what you want and how many? I have finished filling my breeder pens and now have a bunch of lonely girls left free ranging and I'm having way too much fun hatching.

or not. How many chickens can you have in the city?

I am planning on starting with 2 hens, something smaller preferably. I know the RI Reds are highly recommended, I am going to speak with Cheryl and Dan to see what they recommend in my size and for this area.

Thanks!

Hello everyone! I am looking for someone in the East Texas area that might be willing to donate some fertilized eggs for a school project. I teach 1st grade and we hatch the eggs out at school to teach the life cycle of an egg. After hatching the eggs, they will be brought to my hosue to live out their life with our flock. We currently have some EE's, Barred Rocks, Australorp, and Buff Orpingtons. Breed is not a huge concern for me. If anyone would be willing to donate some please let me know. We would like to start the project within the next couple of weeks. Thanks!

Not sure where you are in East Texas. I'm NW of Lindale and would be happy to donate some Welsummer eggs for your project. The only hitch would be if you're planning on candling the eggs during the incubation process. These eggs are DARK brown so would be nearly impossible to see anything going on. If that's not a problem, just let me know.

If you're near Glendale ( outside of Trinity, which is close to Huntsville/Crockett areas ) I also have some that would be available. I have about 5 or 6 3/4 game 1/4 RIR eggs I was about to let my Claret hen sit on. But, If you're close I'll gladly donate!

Hello to all... Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. I took advantage of this beautiful weather and worked on my chicken barn. I have two doors to build, some work on the inside and it will be complete. I will take some pictures tomorrow and post.

I ordered 24 black sex link chicks from the local feed store about a month ago, hopefully they will be in tomorrow, my brooder is ready. I'm still learning how to navigate BYC site.., enjoying everything I run into. Talk to yall soon...

Best of luck to you.

Busy weekend here, too! Good luck!

Updates on the little peeper! - She/he is officially off the hook. Eating and drinking normal, really a energetic chick! Going to keep her and put her out with the brown layers, if it's a rooster that'll be okay with me. The rooster out there is getting laxed in his hen watching duties, too thinly spread. If they get along ( all those weeks down the road )... If it's a hen, more eggs for me!

Any way... brought home some turkeys, pics are up! Today alone I pulled up 10 tposts, replaced them with wood posts, put in several new t-posts, and started building my gate. I also built the walls and framed my new pen ( the reason for the expansion ), finished my turkey pen, and cleared about 1/2 an acre of brush... Needless to say, I'm POOPED! Finished the day by getting some good ole Mexican food from our favorite restaurant and a nice margarita... or two. Sorry if this posts makes only half sense. It's the end of the day, and I'm heading to bed. Pics if I ever find my camera.
