Texas

You are lucky to be withing driving distance to a large part of the population of Texas. Wish I could find some breeders in this neck of the woods, say within an hours drive of Coleman/Abilene. Sure do wish you the best in your endeavors.
I do ship too. I ship chicks and hatching eggs. The NPIP and TAHC allows me to do that. I was offering that to those who pop in. However, I do understand the frustration. I tell you what, I will up the extras for the folks that can pop in (saves me shipping) and send extras to my fellow Texans in this forum. I have a positive bias toward fellow Texans.

Yup - this is making me nuts. I tried refreshing the Littles' growout pen yesterday, and now it's all wet. OK, so maybe more clean on top, but wet. Whenever the rain stops, I have a LOT of work to do. Good thing I do deep litter - at least it's only mixing and putting in fresh, and not so much of the shoveling out bit...

Edit to add: I should say that I am ALWAYS grateful for rain. It's just that it's making things a PITA right now.

Lots of rain so far, a hen hatched some babies yesterday, luckily we moved her nest in to the barn on Sat so... they're safe, good Lord!

My sons enjoyed their days off today as school is closed. Del Valle school finally agreed to close this morning, my second son works there. The older son works in Houston and the town is flooded with water as 20" rain since yesterday afternoon.

TherryChicken: I came to Del Valle last Sat to attend/watch the New Year festival at the Thailand/Cambodia temple on Linden Rd. At 6:30pm, the rain was just sprinkle. We enjoyed about 30 min outdoor, then I had to go inside as the rain started getting heavier. Glad they hosted it indoor, we just sat there enjoying Thai's food and watching the beauty contest. Had you ever been there yet???

My grow out pen is totally wet on one side...and a lot of water got treked in and out of the big coop...I was JUST telling hubs last night, that I will need to get everything cleaned up as soon as this rain is over...we were out in the rain yesterday checking on everyone and hubs had to actually dig some canals to help the standing water run off better...such a mess...

Dear weather, please only rain when we need it so it's not so nasty. Yours truely, Therry Chicken
A hearty AMEN to that!!! As much as we all need the rain/water and will even more in a few months when it is hot and very dry, a break in this would be welcome. But, the weather forecast for us here between Coleman and Abilene is rain, rain and then even more rain for at least a week. We should have a break tomorrow but sever rain weather after that once more. ENOUGH FOR NOW!!!

Yep, best I can tell, we're getting rain all week as well. I'm fortunate because my property is all sloped toward a central (usually) dry creek bed of sorts, so at least I have good drainage. But when it rains crazy heavy like this, the water runs right under/through the bedding in the various coops/pens on the way to the creek bed.

Oh, and joy of joys, I discovered that in one of my tractor coops, when it rains heavily the nest box gets soaked. YUCK!!!

I have a huge plywood grow out box with a chicken wire lid and heat lamps I keep inside, until they are able to integrate into a flock with full feathers. However, I have 4 outside coops that will need cleaning/maintenance after this deluge is done. I also need get another one set up, as I am still on the waiting list for a flock of Coronation Sussex.

X2

I have a Muscovy that just went broody. I had to move her nest to higher ground. All of our tanks and the duck pond are overflowing it. Ducks are LOVING it.
