Texas

Saving up... I am in Houston a few times a year. Would just be a swing by for me. So when I replenish piggy bank, get a starter pen up & the stars align.....my want hanging out for chocolates and blues
I love the blues too. The hens are behaving themselves now. I think the main one is molting, and the other 3 I have are POL. So, hopefully soon. I have a group of chocolates that should hatch around 04/30/2016. Also, we have had a group of chocolate eggs lately as well.

Mine usually start out as The Nuggets, then The Littles, later The Girls and finally The Ladies
Funny, I have 2 adult Pekin hens and have 5 other ducklings, 2 blue Swedish, 2 Cayuga and 1 Pekin. They way the ducklings approach the adults is so forceful and fast I call them "the mob"! My adults I call "Ladies"! LOL If they are all together its "Ducks"!

I have a quick question for some of you experienced folks. Can watery diarrhea in 5-6 wk old chicks be a result of not getting enough food? All of our girls have been having it today after I found out my daughters failed to keep the food bowl filled. I'm kind of freaking out at this point!

For the folks in Texas, that are within driving distance to Livingston, Texas I will always provide extras of whatever I have:
1. Because I like Texans
2. Because you saved me shipping

For instance, if you come for hatching eggs, I will provide extras. Or if you want a group of hatched chicks, I will provide extras. For repeat visitors I will increase the number as much as I can per visit.

I do ship too. I ship chicks and hatching eggs. The NPIP and TAHC allows me to do that. I was offering that to those who pop in. However, I do understand the frustration. I tell you what, I will up the extras for the folks that can pop in (saves me shipping) and send extras to my fellow Texans in this forum. I have a positive bias toward fellow Texans.

X2 I'm hoping the stars align for me in time for the 4/30 hatch

I wouldn't panic. Chickens, like people, need more hydration than they do food, especially if they are under a heat lamp. Though, I would definitely get them some chick feed with chick grit. Until my girls are feathered out and can join the flock, I keep them on medicated feed. Also, until they are roughly 18 weeks, everyone gets regular chick feed (not medicated). Layer pellets/crumbles have too much calcium for chicks younger than 18 weeks which can damage their liver, kidneys, and potentially kill them.

Me too. That is our projected hatch date. It could be a day earlier or two days later. The humidity pump is working well, and 18 candled as viable and out 22. Hopefully, those will all continue to develop as they should.

Thank you! They ate heartily when I took them out for their field trip and all seem to be doing quite well now. They've been without the heat lamp for a couple weeks now and have most of their feathers. Only a couple more weeks until they move to the coop!

What kind of humidity pump do you use? I've been thinking about getting one but right now my problem is too high of humidty and I have NO water in the incubator. These are Muscovy eggs. All seven were fertile. Pulled 2 quitters yesterday

Yuck.  That red Texas clay plays heck on white socks.  I dont' think I ever had socks that weren't orangey colored when I was kid.

Lol. Just did a load of redhill laundry today. Yes, it is all orangey. Socks, clothes, house, car, everything. It is sort of like a West Texas sand storm. Gotta fight it back.
