I would like to see a get together but Huntsville is a bit of a stretch for me too. Guess that happens when you're in the biggest state in the lower 48.

I'd go to Hunstville. I'm 10 miles north of Livingston, so Hunstville only about 45 minutes (or quicker depending on my moodWent to the Fancy Feathers show Saturday. It was freakin AWESOME!! It was about a 4 hour drive, but so worth it!! I talked to one of the ladies, Amy, who was "in charge" (or at least helping take care of everything) and she said they had over 500 entries this year. I bought 5 juvenile Marans (BCM and Blue), 3 BCM chicks (3 weeks old), 2 Aracaunas (2 weeks old), 3 barred rock chicks (3 wks old) - these are all show quality. I also bought a few others just for fun. We also stopped at the TSC that was on the other side of 46 and bought 8 golden phoenix chicks and 4 various pullet chicks. I also acquired 8 Maran eggs from the show. I put 3 under a broody hen and gave 4 to a friend to put in his incubator!! If y'all have never been to a show - ya gotta go!
Another great part of the trip for me was I didn't have to take my kids (9 and 5) with me!!! It's was awesome not to have to stop the car and threaten them with their lives! In fact the two friends that made the trip with me fell asleep, so I drove all the way to New Braunsfels without stopping!!!
It stormed at my place yesterday. I discovered my roof isn't leaking (which is what I thought the problem was so I had tried tarring it last weekend - which, of course, didn't go as planned). Nope. It's the fact that I built my coop downstream of the river that crops up during floods. Yep, the river (I'm gonna call it the Chunky Dunk River) flows right inside the door and creates a pond inside my coop. I am now trying to figure out what to use and how to use it to change the direction of the rapids . . . luckily the "older" part of my coop stayed very dry and the moms kept the chicks in that part or else I would have been trying to figure out how to make little boats for them.
Does anyone know how much rain we got? It had to be at least 4.
