Texas

Just wanted to say hello to the group from Corpus Christi. I raised chickens years ago and am enjoying them once again. This is so great to have a learning community to communicate with. On my bucket list was to raise French Marans. I had a hard time locating some earlier so started off with a couple of Australorps and Goldens until my Marans came in from North Carolina. All are now over a month old and in their run and coop outside. What a great experience! Can't wait for the eggs.

just wanted to say hi to everyone and new memembers if you have just joined.
I live in Rhome Texas. We are just outside of Justin Texas I am also not to far from the Texas Motor Speedway.
I am currently owned by Silkies, Australorps, EE's, Buffs and Lavender Orpingtons and now 75 meat chickens. The meats are 2 weeks old now and my chickens are full grown except for 3 black Silkies, 3 buff silkies, about 4 wheat colored Easter Eggers, and one I am not sure what he or she is and 1 fizzle all courtesy of TSC except for my black Silkies.
I currently have close to 100 eggs in incubators one is in lock down as we speak.
I am not sure what I would do with out my chickens go crazy I guess lol

Deana, I'm sorry I did not see your friendly reply until just now. Where in the world is Rhome, Tx? I have some of everything just about but their are a couple more breeds I'd like to try. LOL! I don't seem to be able to stop. Is that an addiction? If it is, I don't want to be cured. I found some Mille Fleur bantam cochins that a lady had for sale. I bought a rooster and 3 hens. After a couple of weeks I went back and she still had the rest of the flock. So what did I do? I bought the rest! Like any (in)sane person would do. Lol! I have 12 coops of different chickens, some of which I have mixed as they are the laying flock. We don't hatch the eggs from them unless we need some more of a particular kind to replace old hens so I usually just run a small rooster with them just to rotate my breeding roosters out of the individual pens for a break. The other coops are set up as breeding pens complete with roosters who match the hens. That way I can breed and hatch whenever I need certain kinds. I know....I need help. Do you know of a good rehab for chicken addiction? Hee hee! Shannon

I got a 90' Pine Tree in my 80' X 46' chicken run. Coming down your way to Ideal in Cameron. Do you know if they will let you pick up orders instead of having them mailed? I going to get 25 Buff Orphans, 25 Red Star, 25 Cornish Rocks and some guineas. Have you ever bought from them?
