Texas

That is your closet??? I want it! I do like the flooring...nice job!

We have carpeting in our living room that I would love to replace. We have a cold house too.
That is the house we sold & only my side of an L shape closet. I think we did good! I posted this on the Texas thread because I know a lot of us live in the country & deal with people tracking in dirt, etc all the time. My husband is still set on the tile. He's probably right. But I'm not looking forward to the install!

Where are you from Originally? Saw you were a Brat, any longtime place you're attached to? Where in SA is Hubby from?

I was born in GA, but moved to Germany less than a year later. Until my Dad got out (AirForce) we never stayed anyplace longtime. Once out, we stayed in OK and then CA longest (but never in the same house for more than 3 years. Lol, old habits and all that.)
Hubby is from Warmbaths, just outside Johannesburg. We went there a couple years ago. Absolutely beautiful!

I think the porcelain tile will give you longevity for your forever home. Only way I would do wood is to do solid planks and unless you are a lottery winner that would be prohibitive. I will say if there is any way to swing a professional installer I would do it. I wore knee pads and put down ceramic tile in my master bath and my knees hurt for a long time. I can't imagine doing a whole house.

Yea, 4 roosters!! I am actually looking to re-home at least one of them! This is Juice, a Plymouth rock/silkie bantum and he is very nice to people and the hens, but not so nice to my silkie roosters and he is much larger. I am sad to get rid of any of them, but 4 is just too many.

I am just curious Jenny as I have 3 roos to 5 Hens myself. I plan on using a spanish thing I have seen in my neighborhood to keep the guys from hurting each other or my hens by tethering them by a foot. Neither my wife or I want to give any of our animals away and fortunately our breed has a breeding season, after which they are expected to settle down their hormones. We just don't trust anyone not to eat them or try using them for other purposes.

Have you considered something similar?

Just curious....our house is on block and beam. I would love to have tile, but think the movement of the house would cause the tile to crack. Is my thinking dumb?

Block, beam and tile here without issues. Especially since the ground moves a lot between the moist winters and dry summers. We have winter-spring mud and summer concrete for ground but appreciate the tile. In summer it is nice because it is cool but in winter it sucks because it is cold. Cold water from the tap, in the shower, just generally cold below 50F. Regardless, the tile is nice for cleaning, I just wish it insulated better in the cold months.
