Texas

Elayne, you might try an Austin-area backyard chickens meet-up site to re-home your roos. Also, try listing them on the BYC forum for 'animals to be re-homed. Be sure to put your City/State in the title so folks know exactly where you are, and good luck.

Re: pelleted shavings, TSC has them. They are pine pellets, which expand upon coming into contact with water, or, in my barn, horse pee ;) I imagine they'd be tough on chicken feet if being used as the only bedding, since they are pretty hard pellets until wet. I use them in my stall in my gelding's pee spot, then cover with standard large flake shavings.

Any of y'all dealing with the flooding going on in this area right now?

I'm not or didn't but up in Llano they sure did, here's a screen shot of the bridge that goes across the river into downtown Llano. Another bridge was washed away just a few miles downstream of this one. The bottom of the bridge is about 42 feet above the river bed at normal flow, some major white water rapids going on there. 2nd highest flood on record. 39.9 ft above flood stage, which is 10 ft. All time record from 1935, it was 41.5 ft.
