Texas

I do not want their wormy animals over here. Every puppy that escaped over here was either carrying visible worms or Coccidia(sp?) whenever we abducted them or vetted them. Now I know better to buy just buy dewormer in bulk from the feed store, and put the heartworm positive stuff out of my mind. I know their chicken are running loose with their untreated cocci+ dogs as well so expect the same to infect their chicken.

Oh well that's life in the rural "Colonias" here in Southnmost Texas! The Coop and run plus the fence redo are designed to be visual/physical barriers for both of our sakes as they built their house to dang close to this one. Nice folks otherwise though! :):he

Edit- How are you a half owner of the pyrene's? Are they the neighbors?

Also I hit wikipedia.org for Laureles, Tx and man this place is dirt poor by the 2010 stats and demographics. 50% of the kids here are living below the Poverty level. No clue why folks think they can afford 3 or more dogs as well. People don't bother to spay/neuter/vaccinate/vet any of their dogs and we are totally surprised whenever we see a dog on the street roaming loose with tags.

That is so sad! We try and treat our animals as much as possible, specially when we see signs. Our cat just had kittens two weeks ago outside, just found them last night and i'm 85% sure they have worms :( now i gotta find out when i can deworm them safely. :he
But i get it :D

Yes all 5 great Pyrenees are not mine. but they are over so much i claim them as half mine. one of them has claimed my chicks as his to protect...i have to tell the kids to not make them cry when he's around. Super sweet otherwise. My neighbors themselves are nice... just don't want to be bothered and i get that too...:gig neighbors are great....

@casportpony When is it safe to start deworming kittens? At 2 weeks right?

Just my $.02 Kiki on indoor vs. outdoor cats, and weaned out side and curious about their environment cats. Or those outdoor ones sniffing around in kitty communal liter areas. I would bet this is a 6-8 week time frame. In my case I would phone my vet as other immunizations should be due in that time frame as well.

In my case I have a great rat-catcher already and we do have our eyes open for a potential adoption to take on those responsibilities as it seems you can't always keep the rats away without a good mouser when raising chicken.

You're right i should just call my vet since they will need vaccinations. I haven't had babies for a long time. They're pretty awesome too. Thanks for the reminder! :D

I'm not up to date on kittens but I do know that puppies have to be dewormed a few times.
