Texas

SO with this crazy wet/hot weather we have had, I noticed some of the poop board had a few suspicious looking poos that seemed to have a stray looking worm or two. I decided it was time to worm the flock. I usually follow the same routine (creature of habit) wazine in water for the first round then 10-14 days later follow up with valbazen.
So I visit the local tractor supply in search of Wazine(noticed I was completely out).
I can't find it on the shelves, so I assume that they are just simply out of stock. I lose focus on my goal of asking a store employee and find something else I must have. I purchase it, and get in car headed back towards the house, realize my whole goal of finding wazine was a bust, so I stop in at my favorite local feed store in Needville, and look for wazine. Still don't find I find it on their shelf, and ask about it.
Apparently it has been pulled from all stores and is no longer on the list of FDA Approved wormers.
Hmmmm...

SO now the new recommended treatment is safeguard?

hmmm... I wonder why!

How did everyone fare with the storms in the Dallas area? We got hit REALLY hard in the Lake Highlands neighborhood. Peak gust was 71mpg at Love Field and I am sure we got it at least that bad. HUGE old trees down on top of neighbors houses etc. We were fortunate to only have some minor shingle/gutter damage and my truck got hail dings. My modified prefab coop took on some water and the entire run was flooded out but all is good now. Yesterday I took out the poop shelf and cleaned it really good and put in dry sand/PDZ mix again. The girls all seem happy playing and scratching in all the tree debris in the run! Actually I think the experience might have bonded them together. They are acting more like one flock now, instead of the two leghorns (16 weeks) being separate and sort of mean to the other five (12 weeks old). I got the leghorns two weeks ago but the others three weeks ago.

I was in Dallas last Thursday/Friday for a quick trip. Unfortunately, I was on I-35 near downtown when a huge downpour set in. Stressville! On the way home Friday I remember seeing the ginormous construction cranes downtown, then lo and behold, a crane was later toppled by mega winds. Glad your girls weathered this blast!

I just joined BYC. I live outside of Bedias between Huntsville and College Station. I am new to raising chickens and came here to learn.
Will be getting my first chicks in little over a week

I knew a girl in college (A&M, Gig'em!) who was from Bedias so I know how to pronounce the name of your town. ;) Welcome to the flock! Rule #1: you can never have a coop or run large enough for all the chickens you'll have! Plan large!

I would never use Wazine because it only treats one worm.
I'd recommend Safe-Guard.
